Activities in Green River: rocket competition

Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition *It's that time of year again when Green River welcomes the world's largest university rocket competition to town!

Since its inception, this event hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association has grown to 27 teams competing from all around the world.

Students from the US, Canada, Brazil, and Turkey will be shooting rockets up to 25,000 feet above the ground!

For safety reasons, the competition is not open to the public, but Green River has some rocket-related events in store that celebrate the event in style. Everyone is invited!

Meet the Rocketeers* *Wednesday, June 25th from 5-7pm at Green River High School* You can meet the student rocketeers and see rocketry demonstrations. Students will also be on hand to help young visitors in attendance make their own paper rockets.

Movie in the Park: "The Rocketeer"* *Thursday, June 26th at 8:30pm* Come and enjoy a showing of Disney's *The Rocketeer, *an adventure/fantasy film that is sure to be a blast for every member of the family.

Rockets on Display at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum* *Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th * Some rockets that have already been launched will be on display at the museum.

Screen Printing Workshop at Epicenter* *Thursday, June 26th at 6pm* Come learn the basics of DIY printmaking: how to print and assemble your own sketchbook with Ryan Troy Ford, Epicenter's current Frontier Fellow. Ages 13+ only please. There will be snacks! This event is free to the public, but there is a suggested donation of $3-5 per person. This event is brought to you by the United Way of Eastern Utah and Epicenter.

Herb Garden Workshop at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum * *Friday, June 27th at 6:30pm *

Find out how to create your own herb garden and enjoy your harvest in this workshop! Guest speaker Denise McConnell is a Master Gardener/Horticulturalist and wants to see your herb garden dreams come true! Free!
