Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints Church, they have held many positions such as ordinance workers at the Manti Temple, group leader in the High Priests and visiting teacher for 62 years.

Duane and Erma helped organize the Blue Ridge Riding Club and participated in the rerun of the Pony Express in 1960.

Duane served on the Elmo Town Board as councilman and Mayor for over 20 years.

He was on the committee that formed North Emery Water Users to bring clean, healthy drinking water to Elmo.

Duane is an accomplished wood worker, mason, and gardener.

Erma has shared her talents of quilt and afghan making with many friends and family.

After retirement they joined the Buckhorn Travelers Chapter of Good Sam RV Club, visiting Alaska, Mexico and many states in the United States.

They were members for 15 years.
