Lady Pirates Sink Cougars

All the players scramble for the rebound in this hard fought contest.

The Monument Valley Cougars met the Green River Lady Pirates in basketball action on Jan. 3 in Green River. The junior varsity team held their own throughout the first quarter where the score was 8-8. The Pirates led by one at the half by a score of 16-15. The Cougars led down the stretch to come away with the win. Cougars-44 Lady Pirates 27.

The Lady Pirates varsity team came out strong and led throughout the game and finished with a win of 37-33 over the Cougars. The Pirates have four wins and five losses in season play. The Lady Pirates met Manila on Jan. 4 and suffered a loss and played Whitehorse on Jan. 10 and lost. They met East Carbon on Jan. 11 and came away with a win.

The Lady Pirates basketball team consists of Samantha Arnold, Juana Ortiz, Amanda Watterson, Tawni Bigelow, Kelsey Swalberg, Rachel Dunham, Aubree Dinkins, Ciji Vetere, Andrea Silliman, Whitney Bigelow and Emily Swalberg. The Lady Pirates are coached by Tonya Bigelow, head coach and Desirae Roden, assistant coach.
