Christmas tree permits will be on sale at the Ferron/Price Ranger District office of the Manti-La Sal National Forest beginning Nov. 15 at a cost of $10 each. The office, located at 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, is open weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

For customer convenience, the Main Street Market, 15 W. Main St. Ferron and B K's Stop-N-Shop, 500 N. Main St., Huntington, will also be selling permits. The cost for permits is the same regardless of where they are purchased.

In addition, the forest will be selling tree permits through the mail. Customers should send a request for the permit, provide their name, mailing address, phone number, and a check for $10 in an envelope marked "Attention: Christmas Tree Sales." A permit will be sent to them by return mail. Orders can be sent to the Manti-La Sal National Forest at any of the following mailing addresses:Supervisor's Office, 599 W. Price River Drive, Price, UT 84501; Ferron/Price District Office, P.O. Box 310, Ferron, UT 84523; Moab District Office, P.O. Box 386, Moab, UT 84532; Monticello District Office, P.O. Box 820, Monticello, UT 84535; and the Sanpete District Office, 540 N. Main Street, Ephraim, UT 84627-1117.

There is a limit of three permits per person. Purchasers will need to provide a check or exact change. Forest service offices are not equipped to accept debit or credit cards or make change.

The person selling tags will issue each purchaser a map and cutting instructions. Customers traveling long distances for permits should call in advance to determine if permits are still available.

Vehicle access, except for snow machines, must be confined to established roads on the forest. Roads may be muddy, snow packed and slick. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.
