Phyllis married Gerald Stanton on March 13, 1939 in Payson, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS temple with their three daughters. While Gerald served in the Navy, Phyllis was able to spend some time with him in Bremerton, Wash. Phyllis and Gerald celebrated 60 years of marriage before Gerald's death in 1999.

Phyllis and Gerald operated the Singleton General Store in Ferron, which was founded by Phyllis's grandfather, Samuel Singleton in the 1890's and was considered a landmark in Ferron for many years. Phyllis had various callings in the LDS Church throughout her life. She served as a counselor in the Primary and MIA, and as Relief Society President for the Ferron Ward. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Barbara Ann Nielsen of Poway, Calif., Geraldine Opp of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and Joy Wells of East Carbon, Utah; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Eleanore George of Ferron, Utah and Colleen Jorgensen of Nikiski, Alaska; and brother, Sam Singleton of Ferron, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters: Roma Wakefield and Geniel Beach.

Phyllis enjoyed the companionship of her many friends in Emery County. She was the happiest when she was serving others and was grateful for the love and support of her many friends and family in the last years of her life.

In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting a donation to your favorite charity of choice.
