Ceramics for Fun opens in Emery Town
Ceramics for Fun opened its doors in Emery on Feb. 1. The business is located in the former town hall directly behind the post office in the same building. Barb Petty is the business owner. The Emery County Business Chamber held a ribbon cutting to welcome the new business to the county.
Petty said, "You can come in and pick out your ceramics from the many we have on display or you can look through catalogs for additional molds. You can purchase paint here from us or bring your paints with you. We have tables set up in our business where you can do your painting. You can paint your own ceramics or I can paint whatever you want also.
"I go to Provo once a month to pick up orders. Some of the items we have in stock are frogs, Native American, holidays; Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentines Day and others. We have ceramics you can paint and spray and then put them in your yards for outdoor decor. We have a lot of vases and religious ceramics, too. We can order in whatever you want. If you have a special project in mind, then we can help. We are going to have a kids corner on certain days of the week where you can bring children in and parents and kids can paint together. We are open Tuesday-Saturday. Our hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday to accommodate those people who work.
"The number at the store is 286-2336. We offer Scentsy candles and fragrance products. We have aprons for sale and other items. Down the road I would like to expand our product line and have a small gift shop. So you can stop in and buy a quick gift for a wedding or shower, or treat yourself with a gift. I plan to begin painting classes during the summer where we will teach different painting techniques to use on ceramics," said Petty.
On hand to wish Petty good luck with her business included: Josee Lynn Muller, Shian Katherine Muller, Suzi Cole, Judi Riddle, Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth and Tanya Muller.
Petty welcomes everyone to come in and check out the newest business in the county and see how fun ceramics can be. Petty enjoys pouring the clay into the molds and firing the ceramics. She's turned her fun hobby into a business and hopes for the support of the county as she ventures out into something new. Ceramics make great gifts and painting them is a relaxing hobby to get involved with in your spare time.
Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth welcomed Ceramics are Fun as the newest Emery County business and wished Barb Petty much success in the future as her business grows and expands into new areas.
