The Emery County Community Theatre will present Oliver Twist this Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a matinee performance on Saturday at 2 p.m.

"Please sir, can I have some more?"...a most memorable line from "Oliver," a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist."

Emery County Community Theatre has worked hard the last several months to put together this appealing show for you.

Travis Fehlberg plays the part of Oliver, a boy who is orphaned and left at a workhouse in 19th century England. The workhouse is run by Widow Corney and Mr. Bumble (Janet and Edward Geary). They are mean, have no interest whatsoever in the boys, and only feed them thin gruel. When Oliver dares to ask for more, he is sold to the Sowerberry's (Wayne Roberts and Jan Hansen), the undertakers of the town. There's a fight and Oliver escapes.

The Artful Dodger (Davy Higbee) offers to help Oliver. Dodger takes him to meet Fagin (Tyrell Clement) who teaches Oliver to be a pickpocket. While with Fagin, Oliver meets sweet Nancy and evil Bill Sykes (Dolly and Elden Stephens), who ultimately change his life forever.

The show is filled with great songs like "Food Glorious Food, "Pick A Pocket", "Consider Yourselves", and the beautiful ballad "As Long As He Needs Me". The extremely talented cast is directed by Vickie Kinder and Gina Sitterud. Come and see if Oliver finds the one thing in life that we all want to have...the love of a family. The show runs March 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $6 per person with children 3 and under free. "We can't wait to present this play to the community," said cast members.
