Spartan track finishes season at region/state
The region track season came to a close last week as Juab hosted the region 12 track meet in Nephi. In the meet, Blayr Jeffs paced the girl's team by placing in three individual events plus a relay. Brendon Jorgenson led the boy's team by also placing in three individual events.
Final team scores for the girls were Delta 210, Juab 83, Richfield 61, Manti 58, Emery 55 and North Sanpete 26. Final team scores for the boys were Richfield 155, Juab 108, Delta 84, North Sanpete 66, Manti 50 and Emery 30.
Jeffs won the long jump with a jump of 17', finished third in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.65, two seconds behind the winner from Delta, and she finished sixth in the 100 meter run at 13.48, .4 of a second behind the Delta winner.
Blayr was also on the 4x100 meter relay team with Catherine Dyer, Hailee Rogers and Jessica Guymon that finished second in 51.63.
Brendon Jorgenson finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.84, a second behind the winner. He also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.24 and fourth in the long jump at 19' 4.5".
Brendon was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth. Also on the team were Scott Jackson, David Dyer and Spencer Fehlberg.
Fehlberg finished fourth in the 1600 meter run and fifth in the 800-meter run. Also placing for the boys team were Jackson sixth in the 400 meter run, Tyler Rowley sixth in the 110 meter hurdles and Lucas VanSkyhawk fifth in the javelin.
For the girl's team, Jacee Bird finished fourth in the 3200-meter run and sixth in the 1600-meter run. Jessica Guymon was fourth in the 400-meter run and fourth in the high jump at 4'10". Whitney Withers was second in the shot put at 29' and sixth in the discus at 83'10.5". Hailee Rogers was fourth in the long jump at 15"10.5".
The girl's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Catherine Dyer, Hanna Dyer, Jessica Guymon and Hailee Rogers finished fourth.
The 3-A state track meet will be May 20-21 at the BYU track in conjunction with all the state meets.
