PRICE- Tate D. Jensen born March 16, 1980 to Dix "Butch" and Jeanie Wilcox Jensen of Price Utah, headed out on that final cattle drive in the sky Aug. 28, 2011.

At an early age, Tate started riding horses and working cows with his father and grandparents. At the age of 14, Tate built his own log cabin on the mountain. Over the years, Tate developed a keen-eye for managing cattle, an unmatched work ethic and gentle hand for raising horses.

Tate attended and graduated from Notre Dame, Carbon High, College of Eastern Utah and Utah State University with a Bachelors Degree in Range Management with the goal of enhancing the family's cattle operation. Tate served as a past President of the Eastern Utah Cattle Growers Association, an area director of the Utah Cattleman's Associations, on the Board for the Utah Grazing Improvement Program, and a member of the Utah Cattleman's Association, National Cattlemen Beef Association and the Utah Farm Bureau.

Tate loved life, loved his family, loved his friends and loved being a cowboy. In addition to the family cattle business, Tate also raised a small herd of sheep and kept everyone in lamb chops. Come Christmas, Tate was one of the biggest kids, always championing the annual trek to cut down his version of that perfect "Grizwald" Christmas tree. When it came to music, whether horse-back, driving truck or building fence, Tate loved to sing.

Tate worked hard, had a huge heart and was loved by many. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh and his hugs. He will be missed by his family, the TN Cowboys and Crew, fellow cattlemen and numerous friends.

Tate is survived by his loving parents Butch and Jeanie; sister, Jennie Christensen (Jeff); brother, Monte Jensen (Jill); and sister Becky Richens (Jon); niece and nephews Zachary, Morgan, Tyler and Zane; uncles Jim Jensen (Klenell); Jerry Jensen (Roslyn); Jim Wilcox (Kelly); and Jon Wilcox; aunt Bonnie Lynne Stradling (Joe); great uncles, Ivan Fidell (Karen) and Waldo Wilcox (Julie); along with many other family members, fellow cattlemen and countless friends. Preceded in death by loving grandparents, Don and Jeannette Wilcox and TN and Bonnie Jensen.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the "Tate Jensen Scholarship Fund" c/o the Utah Cattleman's Association, 150 S. 600 E. #10B, SLC UT 84102, to ensure the "Cowboy way of life" for future generations.

Funeral service, Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, 11 a.m., Carbon County Event Center, 450 South Fairgrounds Way, Price. Family received friends at the Carbon County Event Center, Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. Interment was at the Tavaputs Ranch. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Tate online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
