Emery County New Year's baby 2012

Emery County's New Year Baby arrived on Jan. 2, 2012 at 7:48 p.m. His parents are Kimberly and Kasey Conover of Huntington. They named their baby Parker Julius Conover. He has a big sister named Evelyn. Parker was 6 pounds and 12 ounces and 20 inches long.

Parker was also born with an extra thumb. Later on he will have plastic surgery to remove one of his thumbs. About 1 in 500 babies born will experience an extra thumb. Dad, Kasey said they are taking a lot of pictures of Parker and putting them on facebook and everywhere. The family is happy to welcome Parker home.

Part of the fun for being the New Year's baby includes a prize package put together by the Emery County Progress and donated by local merchants. The New Year's baby and family will receive diapers from Stewart's Market, ice cream from Coldstone Creamery, Gift certificate from Bill's Home Furnishings, two free gallons of paint from Magnuson Lumber, one year subscription to the Emery County Progress, gift certificate from Earl's Appliance, gift certificate from Hometown Market, savings certificate from Eastern Utah Community credit union, six movies with popcorn and drinks from Price Theatre, gift certificate from Hard Hat Furniture, thermometer from Boyd's Pharmacy and paint from Southeast paint.
