Kadin Wilson hurries to first base after hitting to right field.

At Carbon High School on a chilly Friday afternoon, the Carbon Dinos shut out the Emery Spartans in the first region game for both teams 6-0. Troy Grundy, a junior pitching stand out for the Dinos, picked up the victory as he allowed just one hit, gave up just one walk and struck out 14 batters in the seven inning ball game.

Kadin Wilson, an Emery outfielder, got the only hit of the day with a fifth inning single. Other Spartans that made it to the base paths were Conley Luke and Wes Baletka got on via Dino errors, Chandler Tanner got hit by a pitch and Garrett Swenson walked.

Landon Watson started on the mound for the Spartans and picked up the loss. Chandler Pearson pitched well in relief.
