Emery swim team finishes season at region/state

The Emery boys swim team won the Region 12 championship in Richfield on Jan. 21. In swimming, Emery is in the combined 2A-3A Region 12 with Carbon, Spanish Fork, Delta, and Richfield. The boys' team tied with Spanish Fork for first place. In individual results...Emery took: first place- boys 200 yd. medley relay team of Tyler Rowley, Weston Allinson, Eli Oliverson, and Tyler Pulli; third place-girls' 200 yd. IM-Hailee Rogers; second place- boys' 200 yd. IM-Weston Allinson; first place- girls' 50 yd. free style-Jessica Guymon; third place-boys 50 yd. free style-Tyler Pulli; first place- boys' 100 yd. free style-Eli Oliverson; third place- boys' 100 yd. free style-Spencer Fauver; third place- boys' 500 yd. free style-Tyler Rowley; third place-girls 200 yd. free style relay-Chyanne Carter, Laryssa Guymon, Hailee Rogers, and Jessica Guymon; first place- girls' 100 yd. backstroke-Hailee Rogers.

First place- boys' 100 yd. backstroke- Weston Allinson; second place- girls' 100 yd. breaststroke-Jessica Guymon; second place- boys' 100 yd. breaststroke-Eli Oliverson; third place- boys' 400 yd. freestyle relay-Spencer Fauver, Tyler Rowley, Weston Allinson, and Eli Oliverson.

The 2012 3-A Utah State Swimming Championship was held on Feb. 3-4 at BYU. Emery High, 2-A in other sports but 3-A in swimming since there are no 1-A or 2-A teams, participated in the meet.

Emery High, new to the sport, had their best finishes ever. The girls team scored 34.5 points and finished 17th. The boys team scored 14 points and finished 20th.

Sisters Laryssa and Jessica Guymon led the girls team in the meet. Younger sister Laryssa finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke and scored 12.50 points for the team. Sophomore Jessica finished ninth in the same event and scored nine points for the team.

The girl's 200-yard medley relay team of Hailee Rogers, Jessica Guymon, Laryssa Guymon and Tanner Petersen finished 11th in the event and scored 12 points for the team. Jessica also placed in the 50-yard freestyle race with one point by finishing 16th.

The Emery boy's team scored their points in two relays and two individual events. The 200-yard medley team scored six points and the 400-yard freestyle relay team scored six points. The former team consisted of Tyler Rowley, Eli Oliverson, Weston Allinson and Tyler Pulli. The latter team consisted of Spencer Fauver, Weston Allinson, Tyler Rowley and Eli Oliverson. Also scoring for the boys were Eli Oliverson in the 100-yard freestyle with one point and in the 100-yard breaststroke with one point.

The boys meet found Park City in first, Wasatch in second and Judge Memorial in third. The first three teams in the girls' meet were Judge, Desert Hills and Juan Diego.

Also participating for the boys but not placing were Weston Allinson in the 200-yard individual medley, Tyler Rowley in the 500-yard freestyle and Allinson and Rowley in the 100-yard backstroke.
