The Desertview Pro Rodeo is set to kick off on July 25-27 beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The pre rodeo events begin at 6 p.m.

This year all tickets are general admission with no assigned seating.

Tickets can be bought at both Desertview Federal Credit Union locations in Huntington and Ferron, the Emery County Recreation office, or IFA in Price.

Advance ticket prices for adults are $10 for Thursday $11 for Friday, and $12 for Saturday or a three day package for $30. At the gate they will be $12, $13, and $14 respectively.

Children's tickets are for kids age 4-12 and they are $7 in advance and at the gate. Three day packages for children are $15. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Rodeo organizers said, "This year we will have mutton busting each night for kids age 4-7. Each child will receive a t-shirt and gift certificates from various local businesses. Sign ups are at the Emery County Recreation office and the cost is $10. Entries are limited so sign up soon.

"Wild Cow milking and the hide race will be each night of the rodeo. The cost for wild cow milking is $250 a team and for the hide race it is $75 per team. Again there is a limited number of entries so sign up soon. There will be a nightly payout plus average winners in wild cow milking. The overall winners will receive buckles.

"Each night there will be nightly giveaways. Buy a program each night for a chance to win. All proceeds of program sales will go to benefit Heidi Ewell, the daughter of Terry and Lori Kay who is in need of a heart transplant. Buy a program each night to help her and have a chance at some great prizes such as two Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets on Thursday, and gift certificates to Big O Tire in Price on Friday and Saturday.

"Friday is Price Auto Night. We will have a "Cash Cow" with $500 available to win. 20 contestants will have an opportunity to pull stickers off the cow worth $25-$100 dollars. Please sign up at the Rec office if you are interested in a chance to get free money from Price Auto Group. Anyone 14 and older can sign up and it is a free event. The cow is not mean but she will run.

"Saturday is Tough Enough to Wear Pink night. Please wear pink and show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Once again Frayed String Archery has donated a bow and Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife have donated a rifle to be raffled off. The winners will be announced at the rodeo that night and you must be present to win. All proceeds will go to Perky Travel to help with travel expenses for cancer patients from Emery and Carbon counties. Tickets will be sold in advance at both Desertview locations and the Rec office, you can also purchase them each night at the rodeo.

"Randy Schmutz is the announcer. He has announced the PBR finals and been an alternate announcer at the WNFR.

"Bert Davis is the barrelman/clown this year. He has been featured on America's Got Talent and does events all over the United States and Canada.

"BJ Schumacher is our specialty act this year. He is a World champion bull rider turned rodeo entertainer. He will be available each night to sign autographs, so come out and meet a past world champion.

"We have a lot of great contestants entered in our rodeo this year. Including two time world champion calf roper, Tuf Cooper. He is entered in the calf roping and team roping. 2005, All-Around World Champion Ryan Jarrett is entered in tie down roping and steer wrestling.

"World champion Wesley Silcox is back again this year riding bulls. Tony Mendes, who has been a top bull rider in both the PRCA and PBR is also entered.

"Other past NFR contestants entered include: Sonny Murphy and Ardie Maier in bull riding, Jake Hannum, Nate Baldwin, and Clint Robinson in tie down roping, Tom Lewis and Olin Hannum in steer wrestling and Jody Sheffield in barrel racing. We also have at least six of the top 15 contestants in the Wilderness Circuit in every event.

"We also have some outstanding contestants with local ties including Justin Truman, Huntington resident, and third in Wilderness Circuit tie down roping standings, he along with his brother Brock Truman are entered in tie down roping and will team up to try their hand in team roping.

"Kache Moosman of Elmo, currently 12th in the Wilderness Circuit, and Kashe Potter of Huntington are entered in the bull riding, along with Bo Edwards of Price. Brock Winn, of Ferron, currently 9th in the Wilderness Circuit, is entered in saddle bronc riding. Melanie Adams, of Price, and Kristine Young, of Orangeville, are entered in the barrel racing," said organizers.
