Lady Spartans drop two at home

The Emery High Lady Spartans enter the final week of region 15 volleyball holding onto a small one-game lead over Grand after the team lost two home contests last week.

On Tuesday, Emery hosted region leader San Juan and went down to defeat for the second time this season as the San Juan team swept the Spartans in three straight games. Scores were 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19.

On Wednesday, Emery hosted Grand in shortened week due to fall break and lost this match in three straight games.

After having defeated this team at Grand, Emery came home and lost 25-20, 25-22 and 25-19. Region 15 standings are now San Juan is region champ with an 8-0 record followed by Emery at 5-3. Grand and South Sevier both have four wins followed by North Sevier at 2-5 and Wasatch Academy at 0-8.

Emery will travel to North Sevier and to Wasatch Academy this week with two wins leaving the team in second place in the region for the season. Grand will stay home and host North Sevier and South Sevier in their final two games.

The 2-A Utah State Championships will be held November 1-2 at Utah Valley University in Orem.
