The BYU Invitational track meet served as the warm-up meet to this week's Region 15 track meet. The region meet will be held in Salina at North Sevier High School on Tuesday at 10 am. The region meet should be a battle between Emery, Grand and North Sevier for the girls and between Grand and San Juan for the boys with Emery battling for third place.

At BYU, the Lady Spartans finished in sixth place out of 32 teams in the small school division with Grand finishing ninth and North Sevier 12th. The Emery team scored 45 points and were only six points out of third place. The boy's team scored 7 points and finished 22nd out of 28 teams. Grand was first with 68 points and San Juan was third with 65.5 points.

Ryan Cox was the lone Spartan to score for the boy's team. Ryan finished fourth in the 200 meters and seventh in the 100 meters. He scored seven points.

Paytn Jeffs was the lone winner for Emery in the meet. Jeffs finished on top in the high jump with a jump of 5 foot 3 inches. Jeffs also finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet nine inches. Jeffs scored 13 points for the Lady Spartans.

Ashlynn Allred finished second in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters. On Friday in the trials, Allred set a new 2-A state record in the 100 meters with a time of 12.23 only to see Ashlin Blonquist of North Summit break that same record in the next heat of that trial with a time of 12.17. In the 200 trials, Blonquist set a new 2-A state record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.93 that broke Allred's previous record. But true to form, Allred came right back in the next heat and reclaimed the state record with a run of 24.88. Allred scored sixteen points for Emery.

The 4x100 relay team consisting of Jeffs, Camrey Johnson, Hannah Dyer and Allred finished second and scored eight points. The sprint medley relay team also finished second and scored eight points. The team consisted of Jeffs, Johnson, Dyer and Allison Woolsey.
