Long-time Castle Dale fire chief Richard Herring passed away on Sunday. He was suffering from brain tumors.

Richard has been a volunteer fire fighter with the Castle Dale fire department for many years. He recently retired from the fire chief position. He has traveled with the Emery High football team for several years as their volunteer EMT.

Each year during the Christmas season Richard and Margaret dress-up as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and visit the area nursing homes as well as many town Christmas parties. Margaret thanks everyone for their care and concern during this difficult time.
