Green River residents are treated to an annual dinner. Following the theme of a Hawaiian Luau, the celebration consisted of an island dinner complete with entertainment by Pacific Pearl.

The City of Green River hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on the afternoon of Nov. 29. The event was held in the LDS Church, followed by the lighting ceremony in the city park to kick off the Christmas season. Rep. Brad King was on hand to honor the volunteers. King noted that in a town the size of Green River, the number of volunteers being honored at the celebration was extraordinary. Approximately one quarter of the town's residents were being recognized at the dinner. A troupe from the West Valley City Cultural Center, named Pacific Pearl, provided food and entertaiment from the Islands. Dinner consisted of Hawaiian Chicken, Kahlua Pork, rice, salad, pineapple, rolls and chocolate cake. Islands represented were Hawaii, Figi, Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, the Marquesians and New Zealand. A complete list of the volunteers will be published in an upcoming issue of the Emery County Progress.
