Rep. Jim Matheson

Relay for Life Memory Wall

In remembrance of loved ones and friends who have passed on from cancer, a memory wall will be constructed for the Relay for Life. Submit a story and photo of the person to Sandy Behling. Young Classical Musicians

Crystal Apple Awards

The Emery Telcom Crystal Apple Awards ceremony which will honor the Southeastern Utah Teacher of the Year is scheduled for May 15 at the Jennifer Leavitt Building on the College of Eastern Utah campus, in the multicultural room at 6 p.m. Friends, family, students and colleagues are welcome to show support for the educators is our area.

Cleveland Fun Ride

ATV and motorcycle riders and riders of all ages are welcome to the Cleveland Fun Ride to be held May 15. Meet at the Cleveland Park at 9 a.m. This will be a fun family ride. Sprinkler Irrigation Workshop

On May 6, the local NRCS will sponsor a sprinkler irrigation workshop at Ferron City Hall from 10 a.m.-noon. The topics will be soil/plant relationships, irrigation, establishing new crops, water measurement, water supply and forecast, and helpful hits in wheel line management and use, classroom and in the field instruction. The workshop will also be presented at Wellington City Hall on the same day from 6-8 p.m.

Huntington Heritage Days Rodeo Queen Contest

Operation Home Support

Ferron Post and Unit #42 of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary is accepting donations to be sent to local service men and women. Emery History Book

Emery Town is republishing the original Emery History Book. This book is being reproduced exactly as it was with no changes. Advance orders are being taken for books at Emery Town Hall. The books will be ready for sale on Memorial Day and at that time the price will be higher. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Emery historical "Old Church" fund. Huntington City Secondary Watering Schedule

Even numbered houses and lots, water Monday and Thursday; odd numbered houses and lots, water Tuesday and Friday; churches, schools, mobile home parks, cemetery and city parks, water Wednesday and Saturday. Absolutely no watering on Sunday. Watering hours 6-10 a.m. and 6-10 p.m. No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Absolutely no watering during the night. The water forecast for this year is not as good as it was last year. Everyone needs to conserve water and follow the watering schedule. It is a violation to allow water to run onto land owned by another person or onto city streets. Anyone not following the water schedule or wasting water will be subject to penalties. First offense-warning; second offense-citation; and third offense-loss of secondary water for season.

Castle Valley Youth Leadership Conference

We Are Survivors is the theme for the Castle Valley Youth Leadership Conference to be held May 21-22. Pre-registration deadline is May 1. Bike The Swell

The San Rafael Swell Mountain Bike Festival, sponsored by the MECCA bike club and Emery County Recreation, will be held May 14-16. Registration will begin on May 14 at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River at 1 p.m. Beginning, intermediate and advanced rides are included. Stamp Out Hunger

The National Association of Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, will be collecting non-perishable food items like canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice on May 8 to help families in the community. Donations can be taken to the post offices and from there it will be taken to the local food bank. Do not include any glass items or perishable foods.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, department service office, will be in the area to assist in understanding and applying for rightful benefits, on May 13 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Price Workforce Service Center.

Healthy Camp

New Category for Emery County Fair Entries

Scrapbooking is the new category for the Emery County Fair this year. Pull out your best pages to enter into the competition, or better still, you have four months to construct pages for judging. Emery Town is reprinting the original Emery Town 1883-1981 history book. Advance orders are being taken at the Emery Town Office. Call 286-2417 to reserve your copy. Plans are underway for the 24th of July celebration. Anyone wishing to set up a booth should contact city hall. Arts and Crafts are also being added to the celebration this year. Either for display or for sell. The annual talent show and games are also scheduled.

Vintage Photo Contest

The 2004 Vintage Photo Contest is out to spur interest in old photos with cash and prizes. Finalists will be judged on aesthetic value and the interest of the stories behind the photos. Ferron Reading Program

Ferron Elementary PTO encourages all residents of Ferron to help them to read 1 million pages. As you read for work or leisure, keep track of the pages you read. Record keeping forms are available at Ferron Elementary, Ferron Library and Ferron City Hall during business hours. Forms may be returned to the same locations. CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and , consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Emery County Fair Entries

Begin thinking about entries for the Emery County Fair exhibits. Now is the time to start. We encourage everyone to join in and submit an entry. Prizes will be awarded this year. The exhibits will become a thing to remember. There are many talented people in this county and the exhibits in last year were among the best in the state. Help keep the number of exhibits growing and improving.

New Exhibits at the Museum of Church History and Art
