Hunter Safety Class

Emery County Recreation will be sponsoring a hunter safety class for ages 11 and up on June 1-3 from 1-5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. Shooting will be on June 4. You must preregister for this class at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Class space is limited, so register early. For more information, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

Junior Golf Program

Emery County Recreation will be sponsoring a junior golf program for youth ages 8-17. This program will run June 13, 20, 27, and July 11 and 18, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. You will receive a half price coupon and rules of the Emery County Junior Golf Program at the time of registration. Registration will be June 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. You may also register on Jun 7-9 at the Emery County Recreation office between the hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. This program will be conducted at Millsite Golf Course. Fundraiser Yard Sale

Courtney Anderson of Huntington is holding a yard sale to raise funds to help pay her way to Orlando, Fla. for a national competition in computer graphics. Anderson won the local competition held at Snow College. Anyone wishing to donate items for this yard sale can call Michelle at 749-9445 to have the items picked up. The yard sale will be held May 28 at 141 South 200 West in Huntington from 9 a.m.-5 p.m..

Coloring Contest

The Utah Summer Games sponsors a children's coloring contest. Pages can be downloaded at www.utahsummergames.org. Completed pages should be mailed to Utah Summer Games, 351 West University Blvd., Cedar City, UT 84720. On the back of the page parents should legibly write the child's name, age, birthdate, telephone number and mailing address. All entries will be displayed in the Sorenson PE Building during check-in and registration for the Utah Summer Games. For rules and regulations see website.

Annual Crime Scene Academy

The College of Eastern Utah will be holding the annual Crime Scene Academy training workshop again this year. It will be held June 6 - 10. CEU Faculty member Steve McGibbon and recent CEU co-valedictorian and Criminal Justice student award recipient, Harley Watkins will be teaching at this year's training. There will be approximately 24 police officers attending. If you would like more information on the academy, please call CEU Continuing Education department (435) 613-5664.

Miss Cleveland Pageant

There will be a meeting on June 3 for all Cleveland girls interested in participating in this year's pageant. The meeting will be held at Cleveland Town Hall at 10 a.m. Mothers of the girls are encouraged to attend. Any questions concerning the pageant, call Jessie Ward at 653-2719.

Womens Golf at Millsite

A women's golf group is being organized to play at Millsite Golf Course in Ferron this season. If you are interested in playing, call the clubhouse at 384-2887 to sign up. Play will be scramble formats and will be played at the teams convenience. An organization meeting will be held for all women interested on May 24 at 6 p.m. at the Millsite Restaurant.

San Rafael Junior High Closing Program

The closing program honoring the ninth grade class at San Rafael Junior High School will be held May 25 at 6 p.m. Students, families, and friends are welcome to attend the program. A dance for SRJH students in good academic and citizenship standing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Students are required to dress up and adhere to school dress standards.

State Fair Music Competition

Musicians are being sought for the annual Classical Music Competition to be held during August at the Utah State Fairpark. Classical music students from ages 8-23 are encouraged to participate. North Emery Reunion

The North Emery High Reunion will be held July 2 at Huntington Elementary School, 70 East 100 North. Registration and light refreshments will begin at 10 a.m. The monument dedication will be held at noon. Program at 3 p.m. followed by dinner. Emery Pioneer Day

There is still room for vendors at Emery Town's annual Pioneer Day celebration, which will be held on July 23. Call the town office at 286-2714 to reserve your place to sell your crafts, plants, hot dogs and cotton candy. There will be no cost to vendors who wish to participate. Bring your family and friends and join us for a day filled with fun, parades, food and music. See you in Emery.

UP&L Summer BBQ

UP&L Retirees Summer BBQ Picnic will be held June 9 at the Helper Parkway. Picnic starts at noon, there is a fee. Paid reservations should be made to John Marchino, 895 N. 200 E. Price, UT 84501. Any questions call Madeline Tonc, 472-5732. Reservations needed by June 1.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on June 23 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.

Special Needs Swimming Program

The Emery County Recreation Special Service District will be conducting registration for the Special Needs Swimming Program on June 1 from 2-5 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale, for children who are mentally or physically challenged. Classes will run June 13-17 from 6-7 p.m. For more information, contact the office at 381-2108.

Floats, Floats, Floats

Come join in the fun of this years Emery County Fair Parade. We encourage every business, church group, city, school group, sports group, or family to be a part of the fair parade. The fair theme is New Ideas, New Dreams, New Beginnings. Floats will be judged and prizes will be given in several different categories. Castle Country Horse Show Association

The Castle Country Horse Show Association schedule is: June 4, Castle Dale; June 18, Price; July 16, Castle Dale; Aug. 14, Price; and Sept. 17, Castle Dale. Operation Home Support

Black Top Knight

Black Top Knight will be held in Castle Dale May 27 beginning at 6 p.m. The events will be held on 100 North and 100 East.

Volunteers Needed

Orangeville Library is in need of volunteers to do a juggling demonstration during story hour on June 16 at 11 a.m. Also needed is a magician for story hour on July 7. For more information or to volunteer call Kay at 748-2726.

Craft and Merchandise Vendors Wanted

Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 4-6. Large crowds expected. Security will be provided 24 hours a day, so daily load out is not required. New booth configuration for fair this year. We will try to be very accommodating to your needs,. Booth assignments will be on a first come, first serve basis. Food Vendors Wanted

Vendors are wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 4-6. Looking for exclusive food concession vendors. Each vendor may apply to have two exclusive entree food items for their booth. That vendor will be the sole supplier of those two food items. Drinks, candy, etc. will be available to all vendors. Booth assignments will be on a first come, first serve basis. Project ChildSafe

Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.

AA and NA Meetings

AA and NA meetings will be held at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. AA will be Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. NA meetings will be Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Pioneer Museum Hours

New hours for the Pioneer Museum are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and Saturday noon-4 p.m. Share your pioneer heritage with family and friends.

Volunteer to Help with Miss Emery Pageant

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is now recruiting teams. If you would like to have a team in the 2005 Relay for Life, contact Barbara Moore at 384-2261. New Emery County Archives Hours

Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you need assistance other than those hours, call Shirley Spears, at 381-2671 and leave a message or contact her at 650-4787. The Archives is now under the supervision of the Emery County Recorder and a message may be left at that office at 381-2414.

The Wheelchair Foundation, Intermountain Healthcare, and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation are partnering to distribute free wheelchairs to disabled Utahns. Persons interested in getting a free wheelchair can call 1-877-387-3839, or apply at www.wheelchairfoundation.org/utah.

Support Group for Parents

Grief support group for parents who have lost a child will be held Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the classroom at Castleview Hospital, 300 North Hospital Drive, Price. For more information contact 637-4800, ext. #4018 or 820-0287.

Financial Aid

Are you having trouble getting money for college? Have you been denied a PELL grant? Do you lack funding? Have you exhausted all other financial resources? CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA coordinator at 435-381-5595.

Senior Mobility

The Senior Mobility Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled, power electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-451-0971 to see if you qualify.

Utah Valley Cancer Center

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Eyeglasses for Lions Club

The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lang at 687-5349.

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Union Local 6363

Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
