 | | Published 2,910 days ago | Controlled Burn Scheduled for the Pines Plateau Area
The Pines is scheduled for controlled burning between May 31 and June 10. The area is about six air miles west of the town of Emery. Up to 1,500 acres of understory will be treated. This includes dead pine needles and other ground litter.
The high moisture content in the woody vegetation and the green condition of the landscape make this a perfect time for low intensity burning. No live tree burning is expected. There will be some smoke as a result of the burn.
