Hunter Safety Class

A hunter safety class will be held the week of Nov. 15 at the Emery County Recreation Center from 4-6 p.m. You must be 11 years or older to attend this class. This class is limited to the first 20 pre-registered students. You may pre-register at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Bread 'N Soup

It's Bread 'N Soup time again at the College of Eastern Utah. It will be held on Nov. 21 from 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Crafters Wanted

Beauty and the Beast Comes to Emery High

The Emery High Drama Department presents Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Nov. 17-19 in the Emery High Auditorium. Performance begins at 7 p.m. each evening.

Cassie Ewell Donation

Cassie (Cox) Ewell was born with scoliosis of the spine. She has had six surgeries with more on the way. For any interested in helping the Ewell's with this financial burden a Cassie Ewell Donation account has been set up through any Zions First National Bank. This account will be open for one month beginning Nov. 1.

Folk Art Apprenticeship Grants

Application for the 2006 Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program Grants are now available through the Utah Arts Council. Interested individuals should call George Schoemaker at 801-533-5760. The grant deadline is Dec. 31.

Festive Fridays with the USU Extension

The USU Extension in Castle Dale will host Festive Fridays in the county building in the small conference room. On these days, the making of special crafts expecially for Christmas giving will be demostrated. Nov, 18-make your own mixes, 12:15-1:15 p.m.; Dec. 2-lotions and potions, 3 p.m., pre-registration is a must for this class and there is a fee for the kit; Dec. 9-inexpensive gift ideas, 12:1-1:15 p.m.; and Dec. 16-toothbrush rag rug, 12:15 p.m., bring your own fabric, and there is a small fee. Flu Vaccines

Flu shots will be given daily for high risk individuals at Southeastern Utah District Health Department located at 25 West Main in Castle Dale from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Monday mornings from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Food Handlers Classes

There will be food handlers classes for all persons working in food handling establishments.Classes will be taught in Castle Dale, at the Health Deparment, 25 West Main, Dec. 8 at 4 and 7 p.m. For more information contact Dr. Claron Bjork at 637-3671 or Terri at 381-2252.

Operation Home Support

To donate to Operation Home Support, a program organized to send packages to local soldiers stationed overseas, contact Jan Hess, 384-2753. Donations can be mailed to American Legion Auxiliary #42, P.O. Box 209. Ferron, Ut. 84523.

Project ChildSafe

Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.

Pioneer Museum Hours

New hours for the Pioneer Museum are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and Saturday noon-4 p.m. Share your pioneer heritage with family and friends.

New Emery County Archives Hours

Emery County Archives now has new hours. The new hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Archives is now under the supervision of the Emery County Recorder and a message may be left at that office at 381-2414.

Free Wheelchairs to the Disabled

The Wheelchair Foundation, Intermountain Healthcare, and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation are partnering to distribute free wheelchairs to disabled Utahns. Persons interested in getting a free wheelchair can call 1-877-387-3839, or apply at www.wheelchairfoundation.org/utah.

Support Group for Parents

Grief support group for parents who have lost a child will be held Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the classroom at Castleview Hospital, 300 North Hospital Drive, Price. For more information contact 637-4800, ext. #4018 or 820-0287.

Financial Aid

Are you having trouble getting money for college? Have you been denied a PELL grant? Do you lack funding? Have you exhausted all other financial resources? CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA coordinator at 435-381-5595.

Angels Have Wheels

All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. For information on Medicare eligibility contact Gregory at 1-800-810-2877.

Help With Inhalers

The in home Rx programs makes available breathing medications and nebulizers to patients who may have asthma, emphysema or COPD at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-344-5764 or visit the website www.inhomerx.com for more information on the details of this program.

Senior Mobility

The Senior Mobility Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled, power electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-451-0971 to see if you qualify.

Utah Valley Cancer Center

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Eyeglasses for Lions Club

The Huntington Lions Club is gathering used eyeglasses to be distributed to needy people in Third World countries. There is a special need for childrens glasses. For more information, contact Judy Lang at 687-5349.

Salvation Army

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Mail donations to the Emery County Sheriff's Office, Box 281, Green River, Utah 84525 or Emery County Sheriff's Office, Box 817, Castle Dale, Utah 84513. Union Local 6363

Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
