Looking for a job?

If you are looking for a job, it is often difficult to identify your unique skills to write on an application or resume. Most job seekers tend to think only in terms of specific job duties such as repairing computers or driving coal trucks. When you focus on no more than these specific job skills, you are generally able to recognize only a few abilities that you possess.

Employment experts agree that skills identification is essential to a successful job search. Employers want to know what it is you can do for them - not just what you have done for someone else. Knowledge of your unique skills is needed to successfully complete an application, write a resume, or answer interview questions. Skills identification is the first step toward new employment.

Everyone has skills, hundreds of skills, many of which employers are looking for in an employee. Yet most people can only identify a few skills and are generally unable to describe them to an employer.

The local office of the Department of Workforce Services - Utah's Job Connection - can assist you in identifying your most important work skills. Its trained staff can also explain how to effectively use this information on applications, resumes, and in interviews.

The Emery County Office of Workforce Services has received many positive comments from job seekers about the expertise and level of assistance provided to help them gain new or enhanced employment. Utah's Job Connection looks forward to being a resource to help you in your job seeking activities. All job-seeking services are provided free-of-charge. This includes use of computers, laser printer, fax, and copier as well as assistance from knowledgeable staff. This state agency is located at 550 West Highway 29 in Castle Dale. Job seeking assistance is available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can contact Workforce Services by calling 381-6100.
