Lana Jean Passarella

SPRING GLEN- Lana Jean Passarella, age 45, passed away Feb. 2, 2006 in Roosevelt. She was born Jan. 12, 1961 in Price to Robert S. and Anna Lou Jorgensen Birch. She married Fred Passarella and were later divorced.

Lana loved being in the outdoors especially camping and fishing with her family. She also enjoyed crafts and doing yard work. She worked for MSHA for more than 20 years and most recently worked as a mine inspector and investigator.

She is survived by two children; Nicole and Tanner Passarella of Spring Glen, brother Terry (Montie) Birch and sisters; Christine Melo and Lynette Birch as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also survived by a special friend Dennis Christensen.

Preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and sister Sherry.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price where friends and family called Mon., Feb. 6 from 6- 8 p.m. and may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery.

Ermida M. Perri

HELPER- Eminda M. Perri, age 93, passed away Feb. 2, 2006 at Castle View Hospital in Price.

She was born Nov. 28, 1912 in Walsenburg, Colo. to Vittorio and Eredeci Gualandri Vasirani.

Married Ross Perri, Aug. 21, 1940 in Spring Glen.

Member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Stella D' America Lodge #77. Ermida was an accomplished and exceptional dancer, cook, homemaker, wife and mother. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.

Survived by her husband, Ross Perri; son, Ross Perri, Jr., both of Helper; niece, Gloria Rufinni, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; nephew, Victor Pierotti, Helper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (Dolly) Perri; Venice Lami; Florence Butkovich; Tony (Ann) Perri; Mike (Ellen) Perri; Irene Perri; Emma (Tony) Beacco; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, sister, Dena Pierotti; and brothers, Pete, Chuck and Alb.

Funeral Mass, Mon., Feb. 6 at 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Sunday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Sunday and Monday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.

Bill German

PRICE- Bill Dan German, age 81, passed away Feb. 3, 2006 in Price, Utah. He was born Nov. 12, 1924 in Rifle, Colo. to Dan and Bertha Hand German.

Married Verde Allred West in Moab in 1954; she passed away in 1984. Married Mary J. Krompel Henderson, Oct. 22, 1985 in Chattahoochee, Fla.

Member Carbon Lodge #16 F. & A.M. of Utah. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was also stationed in Pearl Harbor. Longtime resident of Carbon County where he worked for Kaiser, Valley Camp and Soldier Creek coal mines. Member of the Price American Legion Post #3 for 32 years. Bill loved his garden, flowers and was a true outdoors man who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survived by his wife, Mary German, Price; step-children, Jerry (Betty) West, Carbonville; Rhea (Denny) Branch, Wellington; Mary (Arlo) Smith, Auburn, Wash.; Robert D. Henderson, Price; Henessy "Lynnette" (Jacques) Wayser, Los Angeles, Calif.; David W. (Leah) Henderson, Woodland Hills, Calif.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Ruth Robinson.

Masonic funeral service, Wed., Feb. 8 at 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Tuesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Lerene Hansen Fossat

HELPER- Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lerene Hansen Fossat, 80, passed away on Feb. 2, 2006 at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.

Lerene was born July 6, 1925 in Spring Glen to Hyrum and Laura Cook Hansen. She grew up in Spring Glen and Helper and graduated from Carbon High School in Price.

Married Alfred Fossat, Aug. 9, 1945 in Murray; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Alfred passed away Dec. 16, 1999.

Lerene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a great religious faith. She looked forward to the day when she would be united with many family members, especially her husband. Lerene was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her family. She loved to read and garden with her husband, and received many beautification awards for their yard from Helper City.

Survived by her children, LaNae (DeLoy) Bogdin, Castle Dale; Diane (Stewart) Fausett, Orem; Allen Fossat, Salt Lake City; Carol Ockey, Gunnison; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Earl, Jimmy, LaMar, Calvin, Dick; sisters, Josephine and Laura; great-granddaughter, Kira McKenzie Smith; and son-in-law, Bob Ockey.

Funeral Service, Wed., Feb. 8, 11 a.m., at the Helper LDS Stake Center, 150 Ridgeway Street. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church in Helper Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery.

Rissa Oviatt Staker

1917-2006

ELMO- With family members surrounding her, our gracious and loving mother and grandmother peacefully slipped away Jan. 31, 2006.

Born Oct. 14, 1917 in Elmo, daughter of Wilford and Ella Minchey Oviatt. Married Melvin J. Staker July 15, 1993 in Price; later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

Rissa was raised on a ranch and worked hand in hand with her husband for over 50 years. She was a very strong willed and optimistic person. She had a way of making each of her grandchildren feel like they were her favorite. She was always willing to share fond memories of her life experiences. She had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rissa is survived by her son, Robert Allen Staker; daughter, Vicki E. (Jeff) Huntington; brother, Lavon "Pete" (Lawella) Oviatt; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; sons: James M. and Jerry; two sisters; five brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 4, 1 p.m. at the Huntington Stake House, 215 N. Main, Huntington. Family and friends visited Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville and Saturday at the church in Huntington, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment; Cleveland Cemetery.
