Pioneer Day was held in Julie Love's fourth grade class recently at Huntington Elementary. The students were encouraged to dress in pioneer clothing. Lessons were written on slates. Students were required to give memorized recitations and "toe the line" just as their ancestors did. Members of the Emery County Farm Bureau Women's Committee were on hand to help each student make a loaf of whole wheat bread and churn butter. A treat for the afternoon was homemade ice cream cranked in old time freezers under the direction of Love and Paulette Kelly.
