The Home Place

Camp Dale DUP

Heritage Days Rodeo Queen Contest

The Huntington Heritage Days rodeo queen contest will be held April 29. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and contest begins at 9 a.m. Open to Emery and Carbon counties. Huntington Easter Egg Hunt

The Huntington Easter egg hunt, sponsored by Huntington City Youth Council and the Downard Family, will be held April 12 at 1 p.m. at the ball complex. All children, ages 12 and under are welcome to attend.

Haircuts in Huntington

Huntington City Youth Council will be doing a community service project for Locks of Love on June 3. Everyone wishing to donate their hair is welcome. Hairstylists will be on hand to style the newly cut hair. Let your hair grow until June 3. Permed and colored hair is OK, no bleached hair.

Cub Scout Roundtable

"Digging in the dirt." All wolf, bear and Webelos den leaders, cubmasters, primary counselors, committee chairman, and committee members are welcome to attend on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. Go in the west door and upstairs for the meeting. Roundtable will provide at least an hour's worth of help aimed for the den and pack programs for the following month featuring games, ceremonies, projects and other fun activities.

Bridge Construction Delayed

The bridge reconstruction work that was slated to begin April 3 on US-6, north of Green River, has been delayed. Further notice will be posted before construction is to begin.

American Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 73 of Huntington, Cleveland, and Elmo will hold a meeting April 8, at 1 p.m. at the Star Grill/Fun Center on Huntington Main Street. This is for all members, junior members, their guests, and women who would like to join or find out more information about ALA. The officers will be giving reports of exciting events coming up and a new fund raiser. Each will buy her own lunch or refreshment as she chooses. Democrat Convention

The Emery County Democrat Convention will be held April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael, 96 North 100 East, Castle Dale.

Republican Convention

The Emery County Republican Convention will be held on April 5 at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. The doors will open at 6 p.m. to ask questions of candidates. The convention will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge.

Easter Sun Rise Service

Easter sun rise worship service will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main, Huntington at 6:45 a.m. on April 16. Everyone is welcome.

Miss Castle Dale

The Miss Castle Dale Pageant will be held June 2 at the Emery High Auditorium at 7 p.m. Applications are now being taken from ages 5-21. Queens and runner-ups will receive cash prizes. Miss Castle Dale will have the opportunity to be sponsored in the Miss Emery County Pageant. Applications may be obtained at the Castle Dale City Hall. Deadline is May 5. Student Art Exhibition

The College of Eastern Utah's annual student art exhibition will be April 3-28 at Gallery East. The opening reception will be April 7 from 7-9 p.m.

Emery All-Star Cheerleading

Wrestling Sponsors

The Emery High wrestling team is looking for sponsors for their wrestling team. Attending tournaments throughout the year is expensive but necessary to add to the strength of the team. If you individually or as a business would like to make a donation to the wrestling team, contact Ferd or Tina Allred at 687-2370. All sponsors will be recognized during wrestling meets at Emery High.

Cleveland/Elmo Easter Egg Hunt

The Cleveland Elmo Youth Town Councils will sponsor this years Easter Egg Hunt on April 8 at 12 noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. Don't be late, we start promptly at noon. 4-H Family Photos

Emery County 4-H is offering family photos at the Emery County courthouse April 7-9 in court room B. To make an appointment for your family call the Extension Office at 381-2381. This fundraiser supports the 4-H in Emery County.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on April 20 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans. widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.

Emery County Gun Club

The April schedule for the Emery County Gun Club is: April 8-50 bird handicap at 1 p.m.; April 14-buddy shoots at 7 p.m.; April 22-50 bird handicap at 1 p.m.; and April 28-buddy shoots at 7 p.m. Come out and shoot under the lights every other Friday night.

Founder's Day Awards

Addicts Anonymous Meetings

Archaeology Camp and Field School

A field school will be held in Range Creek on June 19-23 to 9-12 grade students. Scholarships will be available and the space is limited to six students. Cost is $150. For more information, contact Patsy Stoddard at 381-2431.

Dinosaur Paleontology Camp

A Dinosaur Paleontology Camp will be held on June 19-23 at the CEU Bone Preparation Lab and Price River Quarry Site. The workshop is designed for incoming 10 through 12 grade high school students. Students have to have a 3.0 grade point average or a letter of recommendation from a science instructor. The cost is $200.

Post Cards

A fifth grader from Coronado Beach Elementary School is asking for pictured postcards for a class project. Due to safety precautions please only send a postcard telling him something interesting or special about Utah. Cooking Class

Emery County commodities cooking classes will be held on April 12, May 10 and June 14 at the Emery County Food Bank and Clothing Exchange (40 South Center, Castle Dale). They will be held from 10 a.m.- 12 noon.

Diabetes Class

Juanita Varela Childs Scholarship

A scholarship is being set up in the name of Juanita Varela Childs, who was killed in a tragic car accident. At the time of her death, she was a teacher at Carbon High School. Local Veterans Employment Representative

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson (LVER) at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues. BLM Seeks Nominations for Utah's RAC

Utah residents interested in the management and conservation of public lands have an opportunity to become directly involved through participation on the BLM Utah RAC. Council members provide advice and recommendations to the BLM concerning the use and management of 22 million acres of public land in Utah. Nominations are being accepted for five positions on the RAC. Those positions are: one commodity; three non-commodity; and one local area interest. Miss Emery Seeks Contestants

The Miss Emery Pageant will be held on July 15 at 7 p.m. The pageant committee is seeking those girls who would like to participate in the pageant.

You can be a junior in high school through 24 years of age. Contestants will participate in swimwear, talent, evening gown and on stage question. Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 3-5. Large crowds expected, security will be provided 24 hours a day, so daily load out is not required. Food Vendors Wanted

Vendors wanted for the Emery County Fair to be held Aug. 3-5. Looking for exclusive food concession vendors. Each vendor may apply to have two exclusive entree food items for their booth. That vendor will be the sole supplier of those two food items. Drinks, candy, etc. will be available to all vendors. Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp

Science and Engineering Fair

The Utah Science Center and the University of Utah are seeking entries for the 2006 Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair from 5-12 grade students and also adults to serve as judges and in other volunteer positions. Castle Country King Crawlers

Castle Country King Crawlers (CCKC) is your local 4x4 club for Carbon and Emery counties. We hold competitions and monthly trail rides. Free Water Well Testing

Your local soil conservation district and the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food are sponsoring a free of charge ground water testing program for people who have their own water supply systems. Habitat For Humanity

Habitat For Humanity of Castle Country, an affiliate of Carbon and Emery counties, is building a wheelchair accessible house in Castle Dale. Stitches from the Heart

Stitches from the Heart needs volunteers to knit, crochet or quilt blankets, sweaters and hats for babies in need. These items are donated to hospitals all over the country. Patterns are available. Warming Families

Quilts of Valor

Quilts of Valor, a program that provides quilts to each injured serviceman or woman, is being organized in Emery County. This program needs funds and interested people to help with making the quilts. Muscular Dystrophy Volunteers

Free Legal Clinic

MS Support Group

Tip Line for Drug Violations

A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

AWANA Club

AWANA club for children age 3 through sixth grade will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. There will be fun, games, Bible lessons, treats and fun. The theme for this year is Red, White, and Blue, the Lord Loves You. For more information call 653-2361.

Operation Home Support

Project ChildSafe

Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.

Support Group for Parents

Power Wheelchairs

The Three Wishes Inc. Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-817-1871.

CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA coordinator at 435-381-5595.

Angels Have Wheels

All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. Help With Inhalers

The in home Rx programs makes available breathing medications and nebulizers to patients who may have asthma, emphysema or COPD at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-344-5764 or visit the website www.inhomerx.com for more information on the details of this program.

Senior Mobility

The Senior Mobility Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled, power electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-451-0971 to see if you qualify.

Utah Valley Cancer Center

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Power Wheelchairs

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-246-6010.

Free Wheelchairs to the Disabled

The Wheelchair Foundation, Intermountain Healthcare, and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation are partnering to distribute free wheelchairs to disabled Utahns. Persons interested in getting a free wheelchair can call 1-877-387-3839, or apply at www.wheelchairfoundation.org/utah

Salvation Army

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Mail donations to the Emery County Sheriff's Office, Box 281, Green River, Utah 84525 or Emery County Sheriff's Office, Box 817, Castle Dale, Utah 84513. Union Local 6363

Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
