By MARY WILMARTH Green River
Dear Editor,
Alex Epstein's commentary "Keep our addiction to oil, end our allergy to self-assertion" is the most self-important, myopic thing I have read in a long time. With attitudes like this it is no wonder we are disliked around the globe. It takes the schoolyard bully approach to diplomacy and an adolescent approach to consumerism. If we have the big stick, we must be right. If I want it, and it is cheap and easily available, it must be good. Damn the consequences, (political, social, ecological and moral) full speed ahead. By this logic, we have the bomb; we should just nuke everybody that doesn't agree with us, just because we can.
