The Emery County Sheriff's Office reports they have received reports of campaign sign tampering in the county. Signs have been removed. Those placing campaign signs need to remember they need to get permission to place signs on private property.
No signs can be placed within the fenced area on state highways. Signs on telephone poles are also illegal. The key is having permission before placing the signs.
Those found tampering with campaign signs will be prosecuted according to state statute. Criminal mischief charges will be filed.
