A car traveling southbound on SR-10 near Emery at milepost 14 left the roadway and ended up going up an enbankment and rolling onto its top. The driver was 19 year old Mabeleine Yazzie from Roosevelt who suffered severe head trauma in the accident.

She and a male passenger were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Yazzie died from the injuries sustained. The Utah Highway Patrol investigated the accident. The male passenger was asleep at the time of the rollover. The driver apparently fell asleep or was distracted causing the vehicle to go across the centerline and up the enbankment where it rolled. The UHP reported there were no skid marks at the site of the accident.
