By PATSY STODDARD Editor
Snow blanketed the county last Friday and Saturday which will help the water situation, this past Tuesday at public lands council meeting Sherrel Ward said "The water situation is bleak," He reported that the snowpack is approximately 55 percent of normal with some areas being a little higher or lower. The stream forecast actually looks better than snowpack totals and in October was 240 percent of normal and those heavy rainstorms at that time are carrying the water projections. "Without those heavy storms in October, it would look a lot worse," reported Ward. "We are very concerned. We need moisture in the next two months."
Jay Mark Humphrey from the Emery Water Conservancy reported to the quarterly meeting of the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining which meets in Castle Dale. He also said things look look bad for water in the county unless we get some good storms in the next two months.
