Cal Ripken Tourney Draws Baseball Competitors

The 2002 Utah Cal Ripken District pool play secondary majors was held this year at the Orangeville City Park baseball diamond. The tournament went from June 28- July 2. The three Emery County teams did very well this year.

Emery County (10 and under team) - 1st place; Brian Langston, William (Billie) Mangum, Quinn Montgomery, Jake Nielson, Jeffrey Noyes, Tanner Procarione, Joseph (Joey) Stream, Trynity Young, Gage Bell, Kash Jewkes, Dallyn Ward, coachs; Jason Jewkes, Shawn Bell and Shawn Ward.

Emery County (12 and under team) #1- 3rd place; Mark Defriez, Nick Oviatt, Shawn Deveraux, Kyle Johansen, Camron Stilson, Bryan Larson, Tyler Tuttle, Jaden Mead, Kip Jensen, Justin Poloni, Jeffery Gordon, coaches; Scott Stilson, Jared Norton and Bliss Mead.

Emery County (12 and under team) #2- 1st place; Addison Collard, Derek Allred, Kamron Hansen, Gatlan Huntington, Jason Giles, Justin Cox, Taylor Tanner, Brett Mecham, Colby Snow, Chance Ariotti, bat boy; Chance Huntington, coaches; Mark Tanner, Wayne Huntington, Rick Allred and Curt Collard.

The three teams each advanced to the state tournament in Richfield. The competition started on July 6 and will end on July 13.
