Scout Expo 2007

March 10, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring the family out for a fun day at the Recreation Center in Castle Dale. We will have a rope bridge, food, fun and activities for boys and girls. We will be selling tickets for door prizes. You must be present to win a door prize. To buy a ticket, find a Cub Scout in your neighborhood. The district will have a pinewood derby race that includes the top three finishers for each pack in the disctict.

Businesses are invited to have a booth for advertising or provide a fun activity for any scout age boy or family. The district has purchased items to be given away for door prizes, but donations would be gladly accepted to add to these.All scouts who are selling tickets, need to have the ticket stubs, unsold tickets and money turned in by March 3.Ferron Stake can turn in tickets and money to Gaylene Conder (384-2470). Castle Dale Stake can turn in tickets and money to Teresa Lake (381-2437) or Cami Curtis (381-2123). Huntington Stake turn in to Eldon or Vicky Holmes (687-9235).

Back Country Horsemen

The San Rafael Back Country Horseman February meeting will be held on Feb. 21, at the old Cleveland City Hall starting at 6:30 p.m. The building is across the street from the school. We will be discussing the plans for the upcoming year. We have a number of projects proposed as well as some interesting rides planned. Some projects being discussed include mapping the trails in Black Canyon, developing a booklet on the ten best trails in Carbon and Emery County, and trail maintenance. Some rides that are planned include a February ride into Chute Canyon, and a ride in Range Creek.

Millsite Dam Scoping Meeting

A Millsite Dam Rehabilitation Public Scoping Meeting will be at Ferron City Hall on Feb. 21. An open house will be held from 5-6 p.m. A presentation, discussion and an opportunity to submit comments will be held from 6-7:30 p.m.

EHS Cheerleaders Spring Show

The Emery High School Cheerleaders Spring Show will be held on March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Spartan Center. There will be a $2 admission charge.

Emery County Historical Society General Meeting

Roma Powell and Evelyn Huntsman will present "A Peach of a Place," the history of Ferron and Molen on Thurs. Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m. Museum of the San Rafael. Music by Al Shakespeare. Dues are still only $5 mail to: PO Box 96 Castle Dale Utah 84513

Veterans of Foreign Wars

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on Feb. 22 and March 22 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.

New Beginnings

An Al-Anon meeting for families and friends of alcoholics will be held every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Ferron City Hall building, 15 South State, Ferron.

Walk the Walk

Walk the Walk is a competition to find Utah's most active teachers and adminstrators. Winners will be given $500 to use for healthy activites for their class or school, as well as a retreat for two at the new Zermatt Resort and Spa in Midway.Deadline is Feb. 23. Go to www.educatorsmutual.com

Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp

Huntington Dog Licenses

The Huntington City 2007 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on Feb. 24 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Dr. Jensen will be the vet.

Medical Help for Children

Utah families with children in need of medical services or medical equipment needs not fully covered by health insurance can apply to the United HealthCare Children's Foundation for up to $5,000 in medical assistance grants online at www.uhccf.org

Bible Study

Bible studies are being conducted by the Seventh-day Adventists of Emery County on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the home of Robert and Elsie Law, 1065 East 300 North (Bench Road), Ferron. Everyone is welcome to come. For more information, call 384-2424 or 384-2447.

Quilts of Valor

Quilts of Valor, a program that provides quilts to each injured serviceman or woman, is still being organized in Emery County. This program needs funds for postage to ship the quilts out. For more information contact Hazel McMullin at 653-2246 or Reva Fillmore at 687-2649.

Orangeville Dog Licenses

Orangeville dog licenses are due for 2007. The cost is $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $25 for non-altered dogs. Please bring in current rabies information when licensing your dog. All dogs must be registered by March 1, afterwards an additional late fee will be charged of $25. A rabies clinic will be held on Feb. 10 at the new fire station from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Emery Town Vaccination Clinic

All dogs must have proof of current rabies vaccination at time of licensing. Licences must be purchased by March 1 to avoid $10 late fee.

Emery Town 2007 Dog Licenses

All dogs must be licensed by March 1. License tags are available at the town office Monday through Thursday. You must provide proof of current rabies vaccination and spay/neuter status when you purchase your dog license. $10 per dog late fee after March 1.

Klondike Derby

Civil Air Patrol

The Castle Valley Composite Squadron volunteer organization with co-ed program is being offered for 11-18 year olds. Senior participation program is available also. CAP units provide emergency services including air and ground search and rescue. Seniors and cadets participate in flying activities. For information call 637-6303.

Vendors Wanted

The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for food and general vendors for the Emery County Fair which will be held Aug. 2, 3, and 4. To be and exclusive food vendor, you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office by March 23. You may pick up an application at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale, or go to the website at www.emerycounty.com/fair/vendor. Ben Grimes Exhibit

Ben Grimes is having a one-man photography show at the College of Eastern Utah. It will run until March 31 on the second floor. The museum is open Monday thru Saturday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
