Emery bats "alive" as boys go 4-0

The Emery Spartans went on the road last week for four baseball games and not only won all four games but the team hit the ball really well. The Spartans scored in double figures each game and also had double digit hits in each ball game. Emery defeated Cedar City on Wednesday 13-0 as the Spartans collected 12 hits, led by Dave Justice with three.
On Friday and Saturday, Emery traveled to Montrose, Colo. and played three ball games. On Friday, the Spartans defeated Moffat, Colo. 19-13 and Emery had 16 hits in this ball game. Kyler Edgehouse and Ryne Jones led the way with three hits each.
On Saturday, Emery defeated Windsor, Colo. 13-9 in the morning and then defeated Olathe, Colo. 13-5 in the afternoon. Against Windsor, Justice and Edgehouse each collected four hits and against Olathe, Justice again had four hits. Emery had 17 hits in the first game and 12 hits against Olathe in the second game.
In the tournament, Edgehouse was 9 for 15 at the plate while Justice was 8 for 12 as the two seniors led the team in their amazing batting performance.
Against Cedar City, Emery scored four runs in the second inning, two more in the fourth inning and seven more in the fifth inning. Kade Jones was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk and scored twice. Ryne Jones was 2 for 4. Also having hits in the game were Jordan Gee, Edgehouse, Blake Mortensen, Steve Giles and Ryan Draper. Giles and Mortensen also had a double in the game.
Against Moffat, Mortensen, Draper and Trevor Komar also finished the game with multiple hits as Emery scored twice in the second inning, four times in the third inning, four more in the fourth inning, three in the fifth inning an closed out the game with six in the sixth inning. Also having a hit in this game were Kade Jones, Kesler Tanner, Justice and Giles. Players with extra base hits in the game were Mortensen with a homerun, Draper with a triple and Edgehouse with a double.
Against Windsor, besides Justice and Edgehouse with multiple hits, Ryne Jones and Giles finished with three hits apiece. Kade Jones, Mortensen and Tanner also collected a hit. Emery scored four times in the first inning, once in the second and third innings, twice in the fourth inning, four times in the fifth inning and the final run in the sixth inning. Ryne Jones hit a homerun in his first at bat and Blake Mortensen hit a homerun in the third inning. Ryne also hit a triple and Justice had a double.
In the final game against Olathe, Emery scored once in the first inning, six times in the third inning and six more times in the sixth inning. Riley Spears had a good game as he went 3 for 4 with a homerun and a double. Edgehouse also had three hits and Draper had two hits. Kade Jones, Mortensen, and Tanner also had a hit apiece in the ballgame. Other extra base hits were doubles by Justice and Draper. Draper also scored three times in the game.
For the Spartans, that was 57 hits and 57 runs for the week as the Spartans record now stands at 7-1. Emery travels to Vernal to play Uintah on March 20 and will host Union at home this Friday.
