Poseidon Adventure the Musical

Poseidon Adventure the Musical will be held March 29-31 and April 2-3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Geary Theatre at the College of Eastern Utah.

Student Art Show

The College of Eastern Utah student art show will be held April 9- 27 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. An opening reception will be held on April 13 from 7-9 p.m.

Contractor Awareness Program

Veterans of Foreign Wars

A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Price Workforce Service Center on April 12 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a free service to assist veterans, widows and dependents in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits.

Basketball Camp

Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American team. There is also a summer camp for ages 6-18. Call 704-373-0873 for more information.

Host Families

Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester and year homestay programs, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families. If you are interested call 1-866-546-1402.

Food Handler's Class

A food handler's class will be held on April 26 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the SEUDHD office, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. For more information call 381-2252.

Easter Sunrise Service

Easter sunrise service will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 8. Following the service a buffet breakfast and Easter egg hunt for the children will be held.

Castle Valley Pageant

It's time to sign up for the Castle Valley Pageant to be held on Aug. 2-4 and 7-11. Families are encouraged to sign up together. Priority may be given when parents are participating. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. To receive an application form contact Ronald Sanders at 381-5404.

Enrichment Meeting

The Stake Relief Society Enrichment meeting will be held on April 14 from 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. A luncheon will be served. All young women laurels are welcome.

Emery County Republicans

The Emery County Republicans organizing convention will be held April 12 at 7 p.m. in the old courthouse room 207. Delegate registration will be from 6:15-6:55 p.m.

Cleveland Meeting

The April meeting for the Cleveland Town Council has been changed from April 12 to April 19. The meeting will be held at the Cleveland town office, 100 West Main at 7 p.m. The Cleveland Town Council encourages all residents to be involved in the progressive improvements of the community.

Nominate A History Hero

State History's Annual Awards recognize individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to history, prehistory or historic preservation in the state of Utah. Nominations are due by April 6. Go to history.utah.gov or call Alycia Aldrich at 801-533-3556.

New Beginnings

An Al-Anon meeting for families and friends of alcoholics will be held every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Ferron City Hall building, 15 South State, Ferron.

Castle Country Playdays

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country (Emery and Carbon counties) meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Carbon County Courthouse small conference room. This meeting is open to the public. Looking for three people from Emery County to fill board positions for 2007. Donations toward the present wheel-chair accessible house being completed for a family of five in Valley View Subdivision, Castle Dale,(this family has worked right along side volunteers for more than three years now), can be sent to HFHofCC, POBox 724, Price, UT 84501. A Helping-Hand-Up, Not a Hand-Out. Your donation, large or small, will make this possible in 2007.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Cleveland and Elmo youth town councils will sponsor this year's Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 at 12 noon. All preschool and elementary age children are invited to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. So bring your baskets and don't miss the fun in Cleveland. Basketball Tournament

Emery High School Men and Women Alumni Basketball Tournament sponsored by Emery County Recreation will be on April 21 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee per person. Register as a team or individuals. Anyone who attended EHS from 1963 to present can play. Call mark Justice's office at 687-2403 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., ask for Cheryl.

All Star Cheerleading

Emery all star cheerleading competition team tryouts, April 27 and 30 at 4 p.m. Ages 9-18. Deposits are required. Regular classes for ages 3-11 start in September, no tryouts necessary. For more information call 687-2632.

Emery High Rodeo Team

The Emery High Rodeo team is preparing for their 2007 rodeo. It will be held April 20-21 at the Castle Dale arena. Sponsorships from local businesses help make this possible. To sponsor the rodeo call VaLynn Sitterud at 687-9019.

Doll Collection at the Emery Library

The Emery Town Library is featuring a local artist doll collection during the month of March. Maggie Hansen is 92 years old and continues to make dolls. The collection will be displayed at the Emery Library Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. For more information call the Emery Library at 286-2474.

Seniors and Disabled Struggling with Debt

The DCSD legal service is designed to help seniors and disabled people who cannot afford to hire an attorney to file for bankruptcy, but need legal representation to get collectors to stop harassing them, Call 1-800-992-3275 ext. 1304 with any questions.

Miss Emery Pageant

The Miss Emery scholarship pageant will be held on July 14 at 7 p.m. Contestants must be 17 years of age by Sept. 1 to be in the pageant. Most juniors qualify. Anyone wishing to sign-up to compete in this scholarship pageant are encouraged to contact Jerilyn Spears, pageant director at 381-5667 or 381-2239 or call the Emery County Progress at 381-2431. Competition includes talent, interview, swimwear, on-stage question and evening gown.Scholarships for the pageant winner are queen, $1,200, first attendant, $700, second attendant, $500.

Medical Help for Children

Utah families with children in need of medical services or medical equipment needs not fully covered by health insurance can apply to the United HealthCare Children's Foundation for up to $5,000 in medical assistance grants online at www.uhccf.org

Bible Study

Bible studies are being conducted by the Seventh-day Adventists of Emery County on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the home of Robert and Elsie Law, 1065 East 300 North (Bench Road), Ferron. Everyone is welcome to come. For more information, call 384-2424 or 384-2447.

Ballet Repertory Ensemble

The Ballet Repertory Ensemble will hold the following performances at the Rio Theater in Helper at 7:30 p.m. Spring Contemporary Concert on April 25 and 27; Spring Classical Concert on April 26 and 28.

Local Veterans Employment Representative

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues. Free Legal Clinic

Every second and fourth Monday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. a free legal clinic will be held at the Price Court House. Call Utah Legal Services at 1-800-662-1563 to set up an appointment.

LDS 12-step meeting is every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Delta Seminary. Everyone is welcome.

Tip Line for Drug Violations

A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

Support Group for Parents

Utah Valley Cancer Center

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Salvation Army

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
