Dallyn Bayles to Perform in Green River

Rock Show at CEU

The First Annual Castle Country Rock, Fossil, and Mineral Show will be held at the College of Eastern Utah student center on June 8 from 12- 7 p.m. and June 9 from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Rocks, fossils, minerals, jewelry, stone etchings, metal detectors, equipment, demonstrations, displays, and more. Soldiers Addresses Needed

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have love ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq and Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren't forgotten and that we care and support them. Spring Rendezvous

Doc Atwood, president of the Bookcliff Muzzleloader club said the date has been set for the annual Spring Shoot at Buckhorn Draw. The rendezvous will be held on May 4-6. A team shoot will start on May 4 at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday the aggregate black powder shoot which includes paper targets and a silhouette walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration will be Friday night and Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. There will be a tomahawk throw, mountain man run and flintlock shoot after the aggregate. Heritage Days Rodeo Queen Contest

Retreat for Girls

Retreat for Girls is for girls LDS girls ages 12-15, 11 year olds can come upon request. The program is held at Utah State University on June 25-29. Huntington City

Huntington City clean up month goes until April 30. Please haul your trash to one of the dumpsters placed throughout the city. Burn permits will be required this year, pick up permits at the city hall. The burn window is from April 14- May 13.

Scrapbook Class

A scrapbook, card class and crop will be held April 20 at the Castle Dale Senior Citizen Center from 5:30 p.m.-12 midnight. Bring your scrapbooking tools and join us for a night out. Classes have limited enrollment and are first come first serve. Crop is open to everyone. Free paper, Sizzix dye cutting machine, and great idea books are available for croppers. Crop fee is $5. American Legion District Convention

American Legion District 5 consists of Emery Carbon, Grand and San Juan counties. This April 21, the district's spring convention will be held in Huntington at the Senior Center at 11 a.m.

All department officers of the American Legion Post 73 and the Auxiliary unit 73 will be in attendance. All members are encouraged to attend. Lunch will be served at $7 per person.

Food Handler's Classes

Food handler's classes will be taught on April 26, May 17 and June 21 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the SEUDHD office, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. For more information call 381-2252. Classes will also be held in Green River on May 15 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Green River City Hall; and in Price on April 25, May 16, and June 20 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the District Health Department at 28 South 100 East.

Car Washes

Cleveland Fire Department will hold two fund raising car washes this spring. The first will be April 28 at the Main Street fire station from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The second on May 12 at the same time. Come and show your support to the Fire Department members for all their hard work and hours that go into being a volunteer fireman.

Miss Cleveland Pageant

All Cleveland girls ages 4-21 are encouraged to participate in this year's pageant. The pageant will be held on June 2 at the Cleveland Town Hall. Any questions call Jenny Parkins at 653-2811 or town hall at 653-2310.

Emery County Gun Club

New, youth ages 10-18 and all women shoot at reduced price from 5-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome from 7 p.m. on. New,. A and B class for all games, provides everyone with an equal chance to win. Schedule: April 28; and May 12.

Emery Junior Miss Pageant

The Emery Junior Miss Pageant will be held June 2 at 5 p.m. at Huntington Elementary. Ages 5-8. Winner will accompany Miss Emery, Kristine Johansen, to the Miss Utah competition June 26-30 in Salt Lake City at Capitol Theater. Participants will be judged on two minute talent, a poem entitled Why is Emery County a Great Place to Live, Work and Play which they have written, and an on stage question. $40 registration fee. The Little Miss will receive a dress, attend a tea, crown and tickets for the Miss Utah pageant.

Student Art Show

The College of Eastern Utah student art show will be held until April 27 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. An opening reception will be held on April 13 from 7-9 p.m.

Castle Valley Pageant

It's time to sign up for the Castle Valley Pageant to be held on Aug. 2-4 and 7-11. Families are encouraged to sign up together. Priority may be given when parents are participating. New Beginnings

Castle Country Playdays

Basketball Tournament

Emery High School Men and Women Alumni Basketball Tournament sponsored by Emery County Recreation will be on April 21 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee per person. All Star Cheerleading

Emery High Rodeo Team

Miss Emery Pageant

The Miss Emery scholarship pageant will be held on July 14 at 7 p.m. Contestants must be 17 years of age by Sept. 1 to be in the pageant. Most juniors qualify. Ballet Repertory Ensemble

Local Veterans Employment Representative

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Tip Line for Drug Violations

A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

Support Group for Parents

Grief support group for parents who have lost a child will be held Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the classroom at Castleview Hospital, 300 North Hospital Drive, Price. For more information contact 637-4800, ext. #4018 or 820-0287.

The Three Wishes Inc. Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-817-1871.

CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels

All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. Senior Mobility

The Senior Mobility Program makes available to senior citizens and the permanently disabled, power electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call 1-800-451-0971 to see if you qualify.

Utah Valley Cancer Center

Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number. Anyone can call 1-866-549-3800 to schedule an appointment, get information about local cancer support groups or to find out more about IHC cancer services and physicians. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area.
