Steven Giles slides home.

After having had a Tuesday game at North Sanpete weathered out, the Emery Spartans went on the road to Delta and swept a doubleheader from the Delta Rabbits. Behind outstanding pitching by Kyler Edgehouse, Emery won the opener 8-0 and then out hit the Rabbits in the nightcap to win 10-7.

In the opener, Edgehouse was outstanding as he allowed only one base hit by the Rabbits. The Rabbits went down in order in the first inning, fourth inning and seventh inning. In the second inning, a batter walked but was caught in a double play for the Rabbits to also go down in order in the second inning.

Delta got a base runner in the third inning, the fifth inning and two base runners in the sixth inning. They never really threatened to score.

In that first game, Emery scored a single run in the third inning, added five more in the fifth inning and then scored two more runs in the sixth inning.

In the third inning, Kade Jones singled and then stole second base. Kade got to third on a single by Ryan Draper and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dave Justice.

In the fifth, Kade was hit by a pitch, Draper doubled, Justice was hit by pitch, Edgehouse singled and Ryne Jones singled. All would score with Steve Giles also singling to score the last run. In the sixth inning, Draper singled again and Edgehouse doubled to score Draper and Edgehouse scored on a single by Ryne Jones.

Other hits in the game were by Trevor Komar in the second inning and Giles in the fourth inning.

In the second game, Delta would score three runs in the third inning, three more in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth inning. Emery waited to stage a comeback as they scored four runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth inning before ending the game with two more in the seventh inning.

In the fifth, Jordan Gee singled and Kesler Tanner got on base due to a fielding error by the Rabbit third baseman. Kade then singled to score a run and then two batters later; Edgehouse would hit a 3-run homerun.

In the sixth inning, Blake Mortensen walked and Gee singled again. Kade got on base due to a left fielder error and Draper walked. Edgehouse walked, Ryne got on by an error and Giles got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mortensen, who started the inning with a hit, was then out to end the inning.

In the final inning, Tanner singled, got to second on a throwing error and scored on a Draper triple. Draper would score on a Justice single.

Other hits in this game were Draper and Edgehouse in the first inning and Ryne Jones and Giles in the fourth inning. Emery had 24 hits in the two ball games and effective pitching in the second game. Gee pitched the first three innings and Trevor Komar pitched the last four innings.

Emery made up the game yesterday and will close out the season at Juan Diego for a single game this Thursday. Playoffs begin next week.
