James Nielsen prepares the sprayer for noxious weeds.

The Skyline CWMA including both the Carbon and Emery county weed departments and the Castleland Resource Conservation and Development Council Inc. provided chemicals to local farmers in Green River to help them control the noxious weed, Russian knapweed.

The Emery County weed department has been working to control this noxious weed for years, and local farmers pledged their support to control the weed on their private property so the Skyline CWMA provided chemicals to the farmers so they could spray the weeds.

The chemicals and spraying equipment for small property owners were made available free of charge to local people from April 17-18, and James Nielsen, Emery County Weed Supervisor, provided his expertise to those who took advantage of the chemicals.
