Brandon Larsen and the band council honored Ben Carroll with gifts and a card. Larsen continued by thanking Carroll for all his hard work. "He is not only a teacher and a friend but a mentor to all of us. Through all his treatments for cancer, he only missed two marching band practices. We thank him for all his help during and after school." Carroll responded by saying, "I just want you to know that your kids are worth it. I want to also thank my wife for everything." Carroll later said that he wished everyone could experience working with such a great band.
