Camille Fehlberg places second in state in the long jump.

If you watch Camille Fehlberg or Tyler Killpack very long, one of the attributes that quickly surfaces is their apparent determination to do well in whatever it is that they are doing. Last week at the state track meet, both Camille and Tyler came home victorious in their respective races. Camille won the 300-meter hurdles and in the process set a new state record for any classification. Tyler won the 800-meter race.

Tyler qualified as the sixth fastest in his race for the finals with a time of 2:00.88 and then won the finals with a time of 1:57.08, 3.8 seconds faster than his qualifying time.

Tyler came back to anchor the 4x400 meter relay team. The team finished eighth. The team consisted of McKay Allred, Cole Bunderson, Blake Jensen and Killpack.

The only other Spartan to place was Zac Clement. Zac finished seventh in the javelin with a best throw of 164-04. The Emery boys finished 15th with 13 points.

Tyler Killpack wins first in state at the 800 meter run.

The Emery girls finished the meet in fifth place with 34 points. Leading the Lady Spartans was Camille. Camille set the new state record in the prelims. Her time was 43.66 seconds. Camille then ran the finals in 43.79 seconds to beat her closest competitor by almost a full second.

Camille finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.02 seconds and Camille also finished second in the long jump with a jump of 17-05 feet. Camille is headed to Utah State University to run track.

Madison Jensen finished fifth in the high jump with a best of 5'4". The second through fifth place finishers all jumped the same height but the placement was determined by number of misses at the height. The winner jumped 5"5".

The other points that the Lady Spartans earned were by the 4x400 meter relay team. The team finished fifth. Running for Emery were Shalae Cox, Jessica Jensen, Rachel Rasmussen and Jodie Robertson.
