National Energy Foundation Super Tour

This is an opportunity to receive a basic understanding of Utah's energy issues, and how energy is developed, distributed and used. This three-day workshop on August 1, 2 and 3 will provide background information on, and in most instances visit sites associated with: solar energy; methane generated electricity; nuclear energy; tar sands; oil and gas; hydro electric energy; coal mine methane recovery; mining and reclamation; coal mining and electric energy. Peach Days at Emery County Care and Rehab

Raffle tickets will be available to benefit Emery County Care and Rehab. Items to be raffled are: 270 Winchester Ruger M77 rifle; two vacations for two adults and three children to 28 different locations; quilts; BBQ and utensils; ATV storage cover; and more. Aircraft Carrier Nimitz

The Nuclear Attack Aircraft Carrier USS NIMITZ is deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. More than 40,000 of our citizens have served in The Great Ship Nimitz over the past 32 years. She will serve our country for at least 18 more.The USS Nimitz (CVN-68), Association is searching for Shipmates (Ship's Company, Staff, Squadrons and Detachments) who served on board the Nuclear Attack Aircraft Carrier for a ship's reunion in Nashville, Tenn., June 19-22, 2008. Artist Reception

The College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum is pleased to announce the artist's reception for their new exhibition, Art in F#. The exhibition features two brilliant local artists - watercolorist Pam Sharp and Sculptor Karen Jobe Templeton. The reception will be held Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the CEU Prehistoric Museum - 155 East Main Street Price. The artists will be available for you to meet and speak with. The event is free to the general public and light refreshments will be served.

Peach Days Queen Pageant

All young ladies from Ferron, Clawson or Emery who will be starting the seventh grade through 24 years of age who are interested in entering the Junior Miss Peach Days and Miss Peach Days Pageant for 2007 can pick up the forms from Ferron City Hall. Ricochet Concert Seating

The Emery County free concert featuring Ricochet will be Aug. 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. No areas can be roped off to save seats. You can put out lawn chairs and blankets before the concert.

Canyon View Registration

Registration at Canyon View Jr. High School for the 2007-08 school year will be held as follows: Aug. 7, 9 a.m.-noon for ninth graders, and 1-4 p.m. for eighth graders; and Aug. 8, from 8:30 a.m.-noon for 7th graders. The seventh grade registration includes an orientation for students and parents. The orientation will be held at 9 a.m. and repeated at 11 a.m. Parents who are registering more than one child and for different grades may choose the most convenient time from those listed. Registration packets will be mailed prior to registration. If you do not receive a packet, contract the school.

Emery County's Got Talent

Emery Idol is now known as Emery County's Got Talent. Do you have a unique talent? Come and share it at the Emery County Fair Aug. 2 from 4-6 p.m. at the Fair Grounds. This is for ages 12 and up. Dinner and Western Show

The Bar G Wranglers will perform at the 777 ranch in Ferron on Aug. 17-18. A chuckwagon dinner is at 6 p.m. with the show beginning at 7 p.m. Costs are $20 a person for ages 10 and up and ages 3-9 are $10.

EHS Volleyball Tryouts

Emery High School volleyball tryouts will start Aug. 7. This tryout is mandatory. Warm-ups will be from 7-9 a.m. on Aug. 7 in the Spartan Center, with tryouts on Aug. 8-10 at the Spartan Center from 7-9 a.m. Girls from ninth-12th grades are encouraged to try out.

Jennifer O'Neil Benefit

Mikiala and Jerra O'Neil and the employees of Smith's are selling raffle tickets for a dollar to help cover the cost of their mother, Jennifer's medical expenses. She has been diagnosed with a rare disease called SUSAC syndrome. Raffle tickets may be purchased at Smith's, Oliveto's or contact Karen Sanderson at 435-637-0974.

Habitat for Humanity Silent Auction

Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country is having a silent auction for a donated "panel saw". Make your bid at the HFHofCC booth at International Days or the Aug. 1, at the Emery County Yard Sale booth, or mail your bid to PO Box 724, Price UT 84501. Marketing Seminar

Food Handler's Class

Soldiers Addresses Needed

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren't forgotten and that we care and support them.
