Soldiers Addresses Needed

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren't forgotten and that we care and support them. Host Families

Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester and year home-stay programs, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families. If you are interested call 1-866-546-1402.

Seniors and Disabled Struggling with Debt

The DCSD legal service is designed to help seniors and disabled people who cannot afford to hire an attorney to file for bankruptcy, but need legal representation to get collectors to stop harassing them, Call 1-800-992-3275 Ext. 1304 with any questions.

Medical Help for Children

Utah families with children in need of medical services or medical equipment needs not fully covered by health insurance can apply to the United HealthCare Children's Foundation for up to $5,000 in medical assistance grants online at www.uhccf.org

Bible Study

Bible studies are being conducted by the Seventh-day Adventists of Emery County on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the home of Robert and Elsie Law, 1065 East 300 North (Bench Road), Ferron. Everyone is welcome to come. For more information, call 384-2424 or 384-2447.

Host Families

Pacific Intercultural exchange is currently looking for host families in the local area to host a foreign exchange student from ages 15-18. For more information call 877-987-3990.

Local Veterans Employment Representative

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson at (435) 636-2343. The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues. Power Wheelchairs

The Three Wishes Inc. Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-817-1871.

Relay for Life Committee Members Wanted

The American Cancer Society is looking for motivated and enthusiastic volunteers who would be willing to serve on the organizing committee for the Emery County Relay for Life event to be held in June 2008. Plateu Mining Reunion

A Plateau Mining reunion will be held for anyone who has ever worked for the Star Point or Willow Creek Mines, on Sept. 29 at the Pioneer Park Pavilion in Price from 1-5 p.m. A potluck dinner will begin at 2 p.m. For more information contact Shirley at 650-4780 or 637-5719, or call Paul Nunley at 637-1215. Golf-Ride-Golf

Play Millsite for the front nine, ride your ATV to Green River, and play Green River for the back nine. This event will take place over three days Sept. 27-29 with camping in the state parks adjacent to the golf courses. Vehicles will be transported by the Emery County Sheriff's Office. Leopold Conservation Award

The Utah Farm Bureau is partnering with the Sand County Foundation, a non-profit conservation organization based in Wisconsin, to present the Leopold Award to recognize farmers and ranchers for their exceptional, voluntary initiatives for conservation. The award is not limited to Farm Bureau members. The deadline for the applications is Sept. 26.
