AJ Cave and Rex Randall are two of the local area guardsman who have just recently returned from Iraq. They are honored at an American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary luncheon.

On Nov. 12, the Ferron American Legion Post #42 Auxiliary hosted a luncheon in the Emery County courthouse.

Jan Hess explained throughout the year this auxiliary unit collects donations to purchase items to be sent to each of the servicemen who are stationed in a war zone. It is called Operation Home Support and they are sending boxes to 21 soldiers for the Christmas holiday.

A box is sent to each of the servicemen on holidays and other special occasions during the year.

On Veteran's Day, two of the soldiers who have received packages from the American Legion Auxiliary were the special guests of these women and their husbands.

AJ Cave and Rex Randall serve in the Army National Guard and have just recently returned from their duty in Iraq.

Following the luncheon, the men told stories of their time in service to their country.

The ladies were able to ask questions about the response of the other soldiers to the boxes they received and any other questions they had.

Hess read letters the soldiers had written expressing their thank you's for the packages and how much it meant to them to know that someone back home cared enough to send them things.

Each of the soldiers had also sent hats, patches, and photos of their time and experiences in Iraq.
