Bookcliff Muzzleloaders Meat Shoot

The Bookcliff Muzzleloaders annual meat shoot will be held Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. at Pinnacle Peak range. Call Doc Atwood for more information, 637-2923.

Donations Needed

Donations of baby supplies such as clothing, crib, car seat, diapers, etc. are needed. For more information or to donate call 653-2334.

Castle Dale City Christmas Party

Castle Dale City's Christmas party will be held on Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. Free chili, corn bread, hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls will be available. They will have hay rides and inflatable games. Santa will arrive around 6 p.m.

Forgotten Patient Christmas Project

The Forgotten Patient Christmas Project recruits volunteers to provide gifts for patients that would otherwise receive little or nothing during the holidays. Sponsors are given the name(s) of someone between the ages of 6-90 to provide Christmas for. Information about the person is sent to the sponsor and then will return items to the hospital prior to Christmas. Donations of cash or generic items are also appreciated. BACA Community Christmas Party

The BACA community Christmas party will be held at Krantz Motor Company on Dec. 8 from 1-4 p.m. All community children are welcome. There will be free pictures with Santa, free candy and toys, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Senior Christmas Party

The Christmas Party for Emery County's seniors will be held on Dec. 12. at the Museum of the San Rafael at 5:30 p.m. They will be running the buses for those who need a ride. Anyone wishing to help with this party should be at the museum at 5 p.m.

Cleveland Christmas

Cleveland Town will hold its annual Christmas party on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. at the town hall. There will be a short program, light refreshments and of course, Santa will make a special visit. Come and join the fun family holiday tradition.

Sterling Scholar Coat Drive

The Emery High Sterling Scholars are going to conduct a coat drive in conjunction with the Les Schwab program. Jackets and coats can be dropped off at the Emery High office anytime during school hours. Green River Community Resource and Benefit Fair

This fair will be held on Dec. 4 from 3-7 p.m. at Green River High School. Booth sponsors will be on hand to answer questions. These booths are by local job, rehabilitation, training, etc. services. Many military booths will be available also.

Ferron Elementary Book Fair

Ferron Elementary will hold a book fair Dec. 3-7 from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.

Huntington City Community Christmas

Huntington City's community Christmas will be held on Dec. 7 at Huntington Elementary School. Free dinner will be from 6-7 p.m. with games and a program from 7-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Emery County Gun Club Schedule

The schedule for the Emery County Gun Club will be: Dec. 8; Dec. 22; Jan. 5, 2008 and Jan. 19, 2008. All shoots will start at dusk, just before dark. For more information contact Jeremy at 381-2057, Jason at 384-3279, or AJ at 384-3393.

Commodities Cooking Classes

Commodities cooking classes will be held in Emery County at the Emery County Courthouse, 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale, from 9 a.m.-noon on the following days: Dec. 19; Jan. 16, 2008; Feb. 20, 2008; March 19, 2008, April 16, 2008, May 21, 2008; and June 18, 2008.

Building Resilience: Creating Hope in an Age of Consequences

The Quivira Coalition's seventh annual conference will be held Jan. 17-19, 2008 at the Marriot Pyramid in Albuquerque, NM. For full conference agenda and registration materials, log onto www.quiviracoalition.org and click on annual conference.

Website to Help Local Residents

A group of local residents have started a website dedicated to empowering the people of Emery and Carbon counties to articulate their points of view regarding the recent tragedies at Crandall, coal mining and coal mining culture, and the future of coal mining in this region. Festive Fridays

The third annual Festive Friday will be held at the Old County Courthouse, upstairs at 12 noon on the following Fridays: Dec. 7; and Dec; 14. Cost for each class is $2 and RSVP is requested. Call the Extension office at 381-2381.

Spinal Care Classes

Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. They will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and are given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander's office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.

Food Handler's Class

Food Handler's Class will be held on Dec. 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the South Eastern Utah Health Department in Castle Dale. Call 381-2252 for more information.

Soldiers Addresses Needed

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren't forgotten and that we care and support them. Share the Experience Photo Contest

The Utah Office of Tourism is encouraging amateur photographers with a love of Utah's public lands to help promote the state's beauty in a national contest. The Federal Lands Management Agencies, along with the Ford Motor Company and the National Park Foundation, are sponsoring the Share the Experience Photo Contest, honoring the best photos of American public lands. The contest is open to the public and accepting submissions until Dec. 31. A total of 14 photographs will be given awards for their excellence. The Grand Prize winning photograph will be printed on the 2009 Federal Recreation Lands Pass and the photographer will receive a new 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid.
