Huntington Stake Adult Dinner

Huntington Stake will hold their Stake Adult Valentine Dinner on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stake Center. A short program and dance will follow the dinner. Sunday dress.

Financial Aid Night

Emery High School will be holding a Financial Aid night for seniors and their parents on Feb. 7 at 6:30 the high school cafeteria.

Emery County Gun Club

Draw for team league starts Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. Shoot 25 rounds from the 16 yard line and 25 rounds from the 22 yard line, $14 per shoot, $8 to club, $6 to purse. Purse paid out each week. Participants name will be put on a playing card and then the cards will be shuffled and squads will be drawn at random. Must be present at 7 p.m. for drawing of teams. Jan. 19 games at dark; Jan 25 draw league at 7 pm.; Feb. 2 games at dark; Feb. 8 draw league at dark; Feb. 16 games at dark; Feb. 22 draw league at 7 pm.; March 1 games at dark; March 7 draw league at 7 p.m.; March 15 games at dark; March 21 draw league at 7 p.m.; March 29 games at dark.

Scholarship Application Deadlines

Attention seniors, in order to apply for a scholarship you must first apply for admission and pay the admission application fee. The following is a list of schools and the deadlines for admission: Brigham Young University, Feb. 1; Southern Utah University, Feb. 1; Snow College, Feb. 1; University of Utah, Feb. 1; Utah State University, Feb. 1; Utah Valley University, Feb. 1; Weber State University Feb. 1; LDS Business College, Feb. 15; Westminster College, Feb. 15; College of Eastern Utah, March 1; Dixie State College, ongoing; Salt Lake Community College, Mar.1; Snow College South, Mar. 1; Utah College of Applied Technology, varies; Stevens-Henegar Business College, April 15.

Rangeland Monitoring Workshop

Huntington Elementary Valentine Carnival

Everyone is welcome to attend the Valentine's Carnival held at Huntington Elementary School on Feb. 8 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be many games and activities, along with dinner. Sponsored by the Huntington PTA.

Relay for Life Kick-off

The Relay for Life kick-off will be held Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Castle Dale Senior Center. Sign ups will be held that night, and the teams that sign up will be able to sign up for $50 instead of $100. If your team brings a new team to sign up, registration will only be $25. There will be a small presentation about different types of fund raising activities. Cold Stone ice cream will let teams sell cakes and a percentage of the sales will go directly to Relay for Life. Huntington City Dog Licenses

Huntington City 2008 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the Rabies Clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to Noon and Feb. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to Noon.

Food Handler's Classes

There will be Food Handler's classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing home, school cafeterias, convenience stores or deli's. Classes will be taught in Price on, Feb 12, and March 4 at p a.m. 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah District Health Department located at 28 South 100 East in Price. Classes will also be taught in Castle Dale on Feb. 21 and March 27 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Health Department located at 25 West Main in Castle Dale. The classes are two hours in length and the cost is $10 to take the test. For more information, call Dr. Claron D. Second Annual Ferron Fireman's Winter Dinner Social

Come and enjoy a meal at the second annual Ferron Fireman's Winter Dinner Social, Jan 25 at 6 p.m. at the Ferron Firestation. Chili and scones will be served. Cost of the dinner is $5 per person. All proceeds will go towards a thermal imaging camera.

Vendors Wanted

The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for food and general vendors for the Emery County Fair which will be held on July 30, 31, Aug 1 and 2. To be an exclusive food vendor, you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office by March 21. Ferron Rabies Clinic

Rabies clinic will be held at the Fairgrounds metal building on Jan. 26 with Dr. Truman from 10 a.m.-noon.

Orangeville City Dog Licenses

2008 dog licenses are now available at the Orangeville City Hall. Fees are $25 for a non-altered dog and $8 for a spayed/neutered dog. A rabies clinic will be held on Feb. 23 at the new fire station in Orangeville from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Commodities Cooking Classes

Commodities cooking classes will be held in Emery County at the Emery County Courthouse, 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale, from 9 a.m.-noon on the following days: Feb. 20; March 19, April 16, May 21; and June 18.

Local Veterans Employment Representative

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Appointments can also be arranged on other days by contacting Steve Wilkinson at (435) 636-2343.

The LVER is also available Monday through Friday at Department of Workforce Services, 475 West Price River Drive, for questions about VA benefits, assistance with VA applications, employment assistance and other veterans issues. Power Wheelchairs

The Three Wishes Inc. Program makes available power (electric) wheelchairs to senior citizens (65 years and older) and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-817-1871.

CASA Volunteers Needed

Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels
