Brandi Webster had a 46 point game.

Brandi Webster scored 46 points last week in a region game against Whitehorse and led the Lady Pirate team to a 69-51 victory. The win kept Green Rivers region record perfect for the season at 4-0.

Whitehorse took the early lead in the game. Whitehorse outscored Green River 13-10 in the opening quarter. That lead was short lived though; Green River and Webster owned the second quarter 26-11 as the Pirates now led at the half by a score of 36-24.

Green River extended their lead in the third quarter by 7 points as they won the period 20-13. Whitehorse cut into the final margin in the final period but the game had long been over. Whitehorse won that quarter 14-13.

Besides Websters points, Leah Swalberg also finished in double figures with 13 points. Also scoring in the game were Bailie Packer with 4 points and Sara Swalberg, Jill Vetere and Crosby Hatt all scoring 2 points.

The Lady Pirates also played Duchesne last week in a non-region contest and lost a close game as time ran out. Final score was 41-40.

Duchesne led after the first quarter 8-3 and at the half 20-18. Green River did outscore Duchesne 15-12 in the second period. Green River took the lead in the third quarter at 31-30 before being outscored in the final period 11-9 to lose a close game. Green River could have won the game at the free throw line where they only shot 50 percent. The Pirates were 12 for 24.

Webster again was the leading scorer in the game, this time with 19 points. Hatt scored 7 points and Sara Swalberg added 6 points. Leah scored 4 points and Bailie and Jill each scored 2 points.

Green River now travels to Monticello this Wednesday and to Navajo Mountain this Friday for region basketball contests.

The Green River boys lost their only game last week. Whitehorse took a huge lead in the first quarter and never was threatened in the game. Final score was 91-46. Whitehorse led after the first quarter 31-7 and at the half 54-16 as they scored at will most of the game.

Luis Mendoza led Green River in scoring with 15 points. Brennan Bigelow scored 14 points and Tyson Johnson scored 11 points as three Pirates ended the night in double figures. Mecham scored 4 points and Clark scored 2 points.

Green River will host Monticello this Thursday night in their only game of the week.
