On July 2 a call came into the Emery County Sheriff's Office dispatch center reporting a small child had been hit by a car on Huntington Main Street near the city library. EMTs responded to the accident scene and the child was transported to Castleview Hospital and life flighted to Primary Children's Hospital where he died the following morning on July 3 due to injuries suffered in the accident.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. The child was identified as Brennan Thayne Cox. He lives a block from where the accident occurred. It was reported the gate at his home had been left unlocked and the dogs got out. The young boy left home unannounced and was following the dogs to bring them home at the time he was hit. Brennan is the son of Mike and Montica Cox of Huntington.
