Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive very soon for academic semester and year program homestays, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families. Ferron Memory Afghan

Old Mill Camp is selling Ferron Memory Afghans. They are selling these afghans to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the settlement of Ferron. They contain historical images as well as current Ferron sites. Call 384-2648 or 384-2902 for more information.

Water Use Workshops for High Water Needs

Although there has been a big push to provide conservation information to the general public and homeowners, there has been less assistance for larger water organizations. The workshops are intended to target facilities and maintenance managers of large institutional water users.

When adjustments are made to increase the overall efficiency of a landscape, there is a potential for up to 50 percent water reduction. These workshops also offer hands-on training and direct instruction from a Utah State University horticulture professor to get them by until major changes can be made.

The workshop is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The remaining workshops will be held Sept. 5 at the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District; 2837 East Highway 193, Layton; and Sept. 10 Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District; 8215 South 1300 West, West Jordan.

U.S.D.A. Website for Those Needing Hay

USDA has developed an internet website for producers of livestock that "need/have" hay, haying or grazing available. The website is located at and has a quick link titled FSA HayNet. This is available to assist livestock producers in finding needed hay or grazing.

Rock Canyon Trail Camp DUP

The Rock Canyon Trail (Orangeville) Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will be holding their first meeting on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Orangeville City Hall.

Any woman over 18 years of age, of good character, who is a lineal or legally adopted descendant of an ancestor who came to Utah before the completion of the railroad, May 10, 1869 is eligible for membership. Any woman who does not have ancestors who came to Utah before that date are still welcome to participate as Associates of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Tuacahn Prepares for Return of "Utah"

The anticipated return of the musical "UTAH!" is coming this fall to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre. This show is the story of Jacob Hamblin and his struggle to make peace with the Paiutes.

"UTAH" will be presented in the Tuacahn Amphitheatre Monday through Saturday from Sept. 12 to Oct. 22. Show time is 7:30 p.m. A chuckwagon cookout is offered before the show beginning at 6 p.m.

Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Bazaar and Bake Sale

Emery County Care and Rehabilitation is getting ready for our annual Peach Days Bazaar and Bake Sale. Bring your craft or baked items to the sale on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m.Quilt Raffle will be held at 2 p.m.

Picture Day At Castle Dale Elementary

Castle Dale Elementary will have its annual picture day on Sept. 11. Students will have their pictures taken during the school day. Parents that would like to have pictures of pre-school children can bring them to school from 1-1:30 p.m.

Cub Scout Roundtable

Huntington Camp D.U.P.

The Huntington Camp D.U.P. will hold a meeting on Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Huntington Senior Citizens Center.

Green River Melon Days

Green River will host their 22nd annual men's slow pitch softball tournament on Sept. 20-22. This year we would also like to see the Coed tournament brought back to Melon Days weekend. So if you have a team and are interested in having some fun, pack up the family, load up the car, and join us for an exciting wekend of ballgames, great food, entertainment in the park, and don't forget all the free melon you can eat. Public Lands Day

A.W.A.N.A. Club will be starting back up again on Sept. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the Desert Edge Christian Chapel in Huntington. There will be games, music, bible lessons, and treats. Huntington North Public Workshop

The Huntington North Reservoir Resource Management Plan Project Team announces the next open house style Public Workshop on Sept. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Huntington Community Center, 40 North Main Street. The workshop is designed to solicit comments and suggestions from the public concerning the preliminary alternatives we have developed for the RMP. The public is welcome to attend and comments are encouraged.
