College of Eastern Utah 70th Anniversary Celebration

Sept. 13 there will be a dinner and awards program at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the Price campus, and Sept. 18, there will be a dinner and awards program held in Salt Lake City at Little America. BLM Continues to Seek Nominations to Utah's Resource Advisory Council

The Bureau of Land Management in Utah is seeking public nominations for one open position in Category Two on its 15-member Resource Advisory Council. Category Two positions are: representatives of nationally or regionally recognized environmental organizations, archaeological and historic organizations, dispersed recreation activities, and wild horse and burro organizations. Individuals may nominate themselves or others to serve on an advisory council. Nominees, who must be residents of Utah, will be judged on the basis of their training, education, and knowledge of the council's geographical area. Nominees should also demonstrate a commitment to consensus building and collaborative decision making. All nominations must be accompanied by letters of reference from any represented interests or organizations; a completed background information nomination form; and any other information that speaks to the nominee's qualifications. Castle Dale Relief Society

We will be getting together Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale City Park. Lunch will be served and we will be touring the Pioneer Museum. Everyone welcome.

Ferron Peach Days 2008

Sept. 2 - race draw-6 p.m., fairgrounds. Parade your pet- 6 p.m., Mayors Park.
Sept. 3 - bike ride 6 p.m., exhibits accepted at City Hall from 10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 - floral exhibits and baked or cooked items due at City Hall by 10 a.m. Contact Paula at 384-3282. Sept. 5 exhibits on display at City Hall 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. dinner and entertainment in the park-fundraiser dinner at the fairgrounds park 6-8 p.m. fireworks-8:30 p.m. Sept. 6-breakfast 7 a.m-10 a.m. - Old Church Park. All day golf tournament scramble at Millsite Golf Course, call Jordan @ 384-2887 for more information. Parade - 10 a.m Mill Road and State Street. Family fun day-fun and games at the Mayors Park immediately following the parade. Soap box Derby- races begin at noon at 100 East Mill Road. Contact City Hall for rules and sign up info. Exhibits on display at City Hall from noon-5 p.m. Horse races-1 p.m fairgrounds. Demolition Derby following the races at approximately 6 p.m. Dance immediately following the derby in the multi purpose building at the Fairgrounds. Ticket price to enter the fairgrounds will be $5 per person or $20 per family and will admit you to the races, derby, and dance. No alcohol is sold or allowed on city property; do not bring carry-in coolers.

Emery County Youth Volleyball

Emery County Youth Volleyball registration will be held Aug. 26-27 from 5-7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, fourth-fifth graders - skill building, six6-th - seventh graders - games. Registration fee - $15, For more information, contact Sue Dow at 381-5100 or 749-0045.

Aug. 30 Goblin Valley State Park

Green River-Junior Ranger Program: Who are the predators and who are the prey at Goblin Valley? How do they survive in this harsh environment? This program is geared toward children 6-12 but everyone is welcome. Earn a Junior Ranger badge and have fun. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Observation Point above the Valley of the Goblins. Emery County Youth Football

Emery County youth football registration will be held Aug. 26-27 from 5-7 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. This program is for youth fifth-seventh grades and the fee is $65. Payment is required at the time of registration. The participant must be at registration to receive a uniform. Emery County Youth Council Lamb and Scone Sale

Green River Melon Days

Sept. 19, Vendors in the park - noon until dark. 3 man golf scramble - golf course - 9 a.m., baseball game w/Manila @ high School - 1 p.m., softball games - evening, queen pageant at the high school - 7 p.m., square dancers - City Park - 8 p.m. Sept. 20, breakfast - city park - 7 a.m., free, all you can eat watermelon at the park, vendors in the park - all day, parade - 10 a.m., entertainment in the park - 11:30 a.m featuring music by "Switchback", softball games - all day and evening, free concert - "Charley Jenkins" - Book Cliff Elementary lawn - 6 p.m., square dancers - city park - 7:30 p.m., dance - 9 p.m.

Arapeen Ladies Only Ride

$1,000 Reward

For the identification and conviction of the thief who stole a Honda Generator and propane tank from a well located in the Tidwell Draw area of Emery County. If you have any information concerning the theft of this equipment, contact Ray Jeffs of the Emery County Sheriff's Office. 435-381-2404. The cows who are now choking on the dust would appreciate the help in restoring their water supply. The cows need the equipment more than the thief who stole it. Historical Society Cowboy Poetry Night

The Emery County Historical Society will host their annual Cowboy Poetry night at the Castle Valley Ranch on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Kent Petersen, local cowboy poet will be the guest poet, and feature poetry by other local poets. Music will be provided by Desert Rose and the evening will wind up with Dutch oven cobbler and ice cream. Remember to bring a lawn chair and a jacket. Your $5 yearly dues can be paid this night to keep the events happening.

WWII Veterans

Seeking Officers, Enlisted Men, WACs, Cadets, Britons, Civilians and /or their families and friends who were stationed at Cochran Field, or lived in Macon, Georgia during WWII, who would be willing to contribute artifacts, photos, articles and stories pertaining to their experience with the men and women working there. Food Handler's Classes

The Taste of Home Cooking School

The Taste of Home Cooking School on Sept. 13 in Price. This year the event will be held at the Carbon County Events Center. We are looking for exhibitors/vendors who would be interested in being at this exciting event which would expose their business to more than 800 women from the surround Castle Valley area. The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available Power Wheelchairs to Senior Citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.The Power Wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self propel a manual wheelchair and who mee the additional guidelines of the program.
