Last week Emery hosted three different teams to town and did fairly well. In a sport usually dominated by urban schools with private coaching and great facilities for year around play, Emery is holding its own and while not always winning, they are usually always competitive.

Last Tuesday, Emery hosted new school Salem Hills and won second doubles and nearly won first doubles. Emery played competitive singles matches. Kaitlin Potter and Courtney Sitterud won their match easily. Melanie Frisbee and Adri Weihing lost a heartbreaker in three sets. They lost the first set 4-6, won the second set 6-3 and then lost the third set 5-7 in a match that took nearly three hours.

On Wednesday, Emery hosted Uintah and won the match 3-2. Weihing and Frisbee won their match 6-3, 6-2 and Sitterud and Potter won their match 6-1, 6-1. Whitney Saupan at first singles, won her match 6-3, 6-4.

On Friday, Emery hosted region foe Juan Diego and lost 4-1. Sitterud and Potter remained undefeated for the season as they beat their opponents 7-6, 4-6 and 6-4. It has been at least five years since Emery last won a match against the Soaring Eagles.

Playing second singles for the Spartans is Stevie Feuers and playing third single for the Spartans is Brittany Hansen.

Emery will continue region competition this week looking forward to the region tournament.
