Nanette Hinkins Tanner is a native of Emery County. She graduated from Emery High in 1980, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University in 1986. She also earned an Associate of Mortuary Science degree from Arapaho Community College in 2001. Nanette is married to Mark H. Tanner and they are the parents of 10 children, three of whom have graduated from Emery High School, two of whom currently attend Emery High, one of whom attends San Rafael Junior High, and three of whom go to Cottonwood Elementary. Nanette taught in the Emery County School District for two years in Cleveland Elementary and Huntington Elementary.

Nanette believes in excellence in education. She is concerned for all students, those for whom education comes easy, and especially those who struggle to learn and advance. She believes that our educators should be provided with those tools which will allow them to flourish in their profession and provide the education their students need and deserve. She will encourage administrators to be prudent in their actions and decisions and plan for the long term for the district.
