Creating Prepared, Communities for Homeland Security
Jan. 14-15, 2009 at the Castle Dale County Building, 75 East Main Street, Castle Dale. Sponsored by: Utah Commission on Volunteers, Emery County Sheriff's Office What is this training about? Utilizing adult-learning principles and the problem-based learning method, this training provides an opportunity for community members to work in cross-disciplinary teams, to draw on collective skills, knowledge, and resources, to address existing or potential homeland security threats at the community level. This no-cost training is supported and certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Grants and Training, Course #AWR182. Online registration: www.regonline.com/CVPR. New Years Celebration

Ice Fishing Tournament
Join Scofield State Park staff Dec. 27 for its Third Annual Ice Fishing Tournament. Registration is limited and required by calling (435) 687-2491. The cost is $13 per entrant. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 7 a.m. A prize is awarded for the biggest fish, along with drawings for door prizes, and free hot chocolate and hot dogs for everyone who participates.
